<p>Histotechnologist</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>The main function of a Histotechnologist is to perform complex medical laboratory tests for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. The role requires significant attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic laboratory environment.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Analyze laboratory findings to check the accuracy of results. </li><li>Analyze samples of biological material for chemical content or reaction. </li><li>Cultivate, isolate, and assist in identifying microbial organisms. </li><li>Perform various tests on microorganisms. </li><li>Conduct clinical trials of pharmaceuticals. </li><li>Operate, calibrate, and maintain equipment used in quantitative and qualitative analysis such as spectrophotometers, calorimeters, flame photometers, and computer-controlled analyzers. </li><li>Perform microtomy, embedding, and histology processes. </li><li>Conduct technical grossing procedures to process and submit specimens for microscopic review under the supervision of pathologists. </li><li>Operate and maintain automated tissue processors and embedding units. </li><li>Operate and maintain H&E stainers, IHC stainers, special stains stainers, and cover slipping units. </li><li>Perform manual cover slipping and provide recut preparation for microtomy and slide organization. </li><li>Perform quality control on completed cases. </li><li>Maintain logbooks and be familiar with the location of stored specimens. </li><li>Locate and pull specimens from various departments as requested. </li><li>Handle chemical reagents such as reagent alcohols, Xylene, Alcohols, and Formaldehyde. </li><li>Perform safety checks in the lab. </li><li>Handle minute patient tissue samples. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>Strong verbal and written communication skills. </li><li>Attention to detail and problem-solving skills. </li><li>Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. </li><li>Knowledge of techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries and diseases. </li><li>Understanding of Good Clinical Practice and local regulations. </li><li>Ability to analyze data and accurately document results. </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Associate's degree in medical technology or a related field required. </li><li>Bachelor's degree in life sciences or a related field preferred. </li><li>Experience in microtomy and embedding required. </li><li>Eligible for rehire. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>The work environment offers comprehensive benefits for employees scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week, including Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement, and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
