<p>The Microbiology Lab Assistant will perform limited microbiology functions. In accordance with standard operating procedures, follows all applicable regulatory standards.</p> <p>The Microbiology Lab Assistant will:</p> <ul> <li>Perform daily BacT/Alert quality control maintenance. </li><li>Perform Removal of finalized cultures from the BacT/Alert. </li><li>Verify Vitek temperature is acceptable. </li><li>Perform the following basic duties in the microbiology lab: </li><li>Swab inoculation of Thio and TSB </li><li>Log in specimens (electronically and manually) </li><li>Pull discard tubes </li><li>Daily temperatures/CO2 readings </li><li>Log in new media, reagents and supplies </li><li>Performs weekly eye wash/shower maintenance </li><li>Performs weekly hood QC </li><li>Incubator and refrigerator quarterly PM </li><li>Troubleshoots the temperature monitoring system </li><li>Weekly cleaning of irradiation /rinsate room </li><li>File paperwork </li><li>Change CO2 tanks </li><li>2nd check CTMS and manual log ins </li><li>Clean lab spaces </li><li>Organize and restock lab supplies </li><li>MicroCheck tube discard </li><li>Perform follow ups with branches as necessary. </li><li>Irradiation Load specimens: </li><li>Log in specimens </li><li>Label tubes </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Education/Experience</p> <ul> <li>High School diploma or equivalent. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <ul> <li>Must be able to meet the required physical demands with or without reasonable accommodation. </li><li>Must be organized and willing to work a flexible schedule as needed. </li></ul>
