<p>Summary:</p> <p>As the Environmental Manager Water/Wastewater Technical Services Section, you will have the opportunity to serve in a key management role that is critical to the City's water and wasterwater treatment systems. This position encompasses a range of professional-level duties range from routine task to very complex in nature and are associated with water/wastewater treatment process, compliance, pollution control, planning, optimization, and the use of associated equipment and technologies.</p> <p>This position provides analytical and program expertise for various environmental services, and regulatory programs within MSO. You will lead efforts to develop data-driven strategies aimed at optimizing efficiencies and facilitating real-time decision-making. The incumbent will supervise, assign, and review the work of staff responsible for a wide array of analytical and technical tasks while managing programs, staff, and contractors. They will ensure that program and regulatory objectives are met, coordinate essential responsibilities with other divisions, and maintain compliance with applicable environmental regulations and standards. Furthermore, you will direct the implementation of program goals and coordinate program deliverables and outreach activities.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <p>Major responsibilities include serving as project manager for assigned projects, providing technical input, and reviewing plans and specifications as they relate to existing or future system equipment and processes.</p> <ul> <li>Directs program and compliance activities associated with Industrial Pre-treatment, source water protection, and regulatory reporting for assigned programs. </li><li>Develops and directs quality control and review for City's water and wastewater process performance, including but not limited to design and plan review, specification review, equipment review, data review, equipment startup, equipment/process training, and developing data dashboards. </li><li>Maintains and manages computer modeling for treatment processes, program and/or impact analyses for assigned area and internal needs. </li><li>Attends and participates in professional group meetings; stays abreast of new trends, methods and innovations in the field of industrial pretreatment, emerging contaminants, source water protection, and risk assessments as it relates to water/wastewater treatment. </li><li>Reviews laboratory, process, environmental, and equipment data and analytics and provides recommendations on process or other changes as needed. </li><li>Implements disaster management and emergency procedures and plans in coordination with department staff and other agencies, as needed. </li><li>Leads, directs actions, and coordinates field activities for instrumentation to monitor water quality. </li><li>Manages the design and development of systems using Grafana, SQL, VS Code, Python, and other software. </li><li>Directs records and reports completion, through the accumulation of significant information, documentation, and plans providing critical information regarding water and wastewater facilities to make operational decisions. </li><li>Directs the creation of advanced data visualizations or programs to demonstrate relationships between variables. </li><li>Evaluates design specifications for process equipment and assists Treatment Division with documenting and implementing operational and maintenance requirements for asset management and preventative maintenance. </li><li>Performs work outside scheduled work hours as required in emergency situations to maintain proper operation of systems and equipment for 24/7 delivery of water and wastewater services. Hold call duty as assigned and as required in emergency situations </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>Education, experience, and Training Guidelines-</p> <p>Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:</p> <p>Education</p> <p>Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in engineering, environmental science, chemistry, biology, or a closely related field is required.</p> <p>Experience</p> <p>Three (3) years of experience of increasingly responsible professional experience in relevant areas, including two (2) years of specific experience in managing regulatory, environmental, or treatment programs.</p> <p>Must have possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid Kansas driver's license.
