<p>JEVS Human Services is a nonprofit based in Philadelphia that helps individuals achieve independence through job training, education, and support services. For over 80 years, JEVS has empowered people to overcome barriers and build better futures.</p> <p>To support the Controller in carrying out the responsibilities of Finance department. This position requires general accounting responsibilities, including journal entries, intercompany transactions, account reconciliations and accruals.</p> <p>This position is hybrid and will require 3 onsite days a week.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Ensure the timely execution of month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing process, including bank and balance sheet reconciliations, account analyses, preparation and posting journal entries and final trial balances publishing </li><li>Prepare timely and accurate financial reports for internal and external audiences </li><li>Supervise and develop accounting staff; provide guidance, training, and support to foster collaboration and communication within the accounting team </li><li>Facilitate the coordination of the audit process with external auditors and internal departments, and monitor the audit progress, ensuring it stays on schedule and within budget </li><li>Assist with the annual budget process, including budgeting central costs </li><li>Oversee the configuration, customization and management of accounting and budgeting/forecasting software (Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains, Tagetik) </li><li>Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and appropriate internal controls </li><li>Develop standard operating policies and procedures over key process areas </li><li>Assess and improve the internal control environment </li><li>Ensure timely bank compliance submissions </li><li>Maintain accurate records of all insurance policies, including policy details, renewal dates, coverage limits, and premiums. Serve as the point of contact with brokers and manage the renewals and policy updates </li><li>Oversee lease accounting processes in Tagetik software, ensuring compliance with the lease accounting standard (ASC 842), and managing related financial close and required disclosures </li><li>Complete special projects and duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Education Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Minimum Bachelors in Accounting </li><li>A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting </li><li>CPA or public accounting experience preferred </li></ul> <p>Technical Skills and Personal Attributes</p> <ul> <li>Strong commitment to the mission of JEVS Human Services </li><li>Extensive knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting and nonprofit accounting experience preferred </li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications </li><li>Proficiency in accounting software systems, experience with Great Plains preferred </li><li>Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks in order to meet close deadlines </li><li>High attention to detail and organizational skills </li><li>Analytical thinker with solid problem-solving and business acumen skills </li><li>Strong project management, time management, and leadership skills </li><li>Excellent communications skills, both written and oral </li><li>Ability to collaborate and work with staff across the organization </li></ul> <p>What's in it for you:</p> <ul> <li>401(k), with company match </li><li>Tuition assistance: Available to all employees with at least one year of service, for those enrolled in job-related, accredited, degree or certificate level courses </li><li>Health, Dental, and Vision coverage </li><li>Ample paid vacation and sick time </li><li>10-12 paid holidays per year </li><li>Pre-tax commuter benefits </li><li>Continuing education, professional development opportunities, and training </li><li>Wellness workshops and activities and access to the Employee Assistance Program </li><li>Employee referral bonus </li><li>Reimbursement of eligible mileage and travel expenses </li></ul> <p>The base pay for this position ranges from $84,000 to $105,000 and will vary based on factors such as skills and experience. Base pay is one part of the Total Compensation that JEVS Human Services provides to recognize employees for their work.
