<p>The City of Wilmington, a top Delaware employer, provides comprehensive and quality programming that supports the holistic wellness of the city residents, maintains the park lands and related facilities, and also provides recreational, social, cultural, employment, and educational opportunities for all through the Department of Parks and Recreation.</p> <p>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>The Nutrition Program Coordinator is responsible for managing and supporting the operational growth and compliance of the City of Wilmington's nutrition programs under the Department of Parks and Recreation. This position will oversee the year-round funds provided through a reimbursable grant through the Department of Education (USDA) Nutrition programs; CACFP Child and Adult Care Food Program & SFSP Summer Food Service Program. The Nutrition Program Coordinator must be flexible and capable of traveling to sites during the CACFP and SFSP operations for a weekly check-in and communicate with staff. This position reports to the Youth & Families Manager.</p> <p>Additional responsibilities include:</p> <ul> <li>Responsible for onboarding new sites that support programmatic growth. </li><li>Submit community-based organizations applications to Department of Education for approval and revisions of applications in the DENARS system. </li><li>Coordinates with the Nutrition Monitor and Office Assistant to ensure all meal count forms are collected and signed. </li><li>Coordinates with the Nutrition Monitor, Office Assistant, and other staff members to collect missing documentation from sites. </li><li>Submits monthly reimbursement for sites where food was served; reimbursements are submitted through the Department of Education DENARS system. </li><li>Analyze data and adjust the budget based on reporting. </li><li>Oversees the daily operations and management of meal service and delivery to sites. </li><li>Provides written communication and/or updates the food vendor system to increase or decrease meals. </li><li>Communicates with the food vendor to receive the monthly menu. </li><li>Communicates with the food vendor to ensure supplies and materials (i.e., warming bags, ice packs, etc.) are received in a timely manner. </li><li>Supervise limited-service employees. </li><li>Performs all related work as required. </li></ul> <p>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE</p> <p>Graduation from a four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in health administration, business administration, business management, or health science is preferred, or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge: Working knowledge of audit and reconciliation, attrition for budgetary practices. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word </li><li>Skills: Exceptional skills in customer relationship management, budget management, operations management, and budgeting. Training and/or supervisory experience is preferred. At least (1) year experience in food service. Good oral and written communication skills </li><li>Abilities: Ability to plan financial reports, compute, organize, and stay within a budget. Must be decisive and able to work independently. </li><li>Licenses: Possess and maintain a valid driver's license with a good driving record. </li></ul> <p>WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</p> <p>All selected applicants must pass a criminal background investigation, drug test, and pre-employment physical.</p> <ul> <li>Physical Requirements: Frequently required to sit and use hands to operate objects and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to walk, talk, or hear. Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. </li><li>Vision: Close vision and the ability to adjust focus. </li><li>Working Conditions: Normal office environment with occasional opportunities to work outdoors. </li><li>Location and Schedule: William G. Turner Jr. Building, 500 Wilmington Ave, Wilmington, DE 19801. Monday through Friday, 9:30 AM - 5:30 PM, with modified summer hours from 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM </li></ul> <p>TOTAL COMPENSATION</p> <p>Compensation encompasses both salary administration and a comprehensive benefit package:</p> <ul> <li>Salary Administration: New employees are hired at the starting salary up to the median salary/ step four based on qualifications and internal equity within the classification. Merit increases are given after a satisfactory performance review. </li><li>Benefits: A comprehensive benefits package is available from day one.
