<p>Job Title: Cost Estimator</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>We are seeking a highly skilled Cost Estimator to support projects during planning, design, and construction phases. The role involves developing detailed estimates from conceptual information and engineering drawings, reviewing and preparing final engineer's estimates, and engaging in change order negotiations.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Prepare independent cost estimates to support projects during planning, design, and construction. </li><li>Develop detailed estimates from conceptual information and/or engineering drawings. </li><li>Review and prepare final engineer's estimates, considering factors such as phasing, airport operations, shift, resources, time constraints, and badging impacts. </li><li>Create detailed estimates comprising labor hours, composite crew costs, itemized material costs, and equipment costs. </li><li>Identify deficiencies and ambiguities in constructability reports and assist the project team in developing a credible cost budget. </li><li>Reconcile independent cost estimates by engaging third-party entities and communicating the results. </li><li>Analyze bids from vendors, contractors, and subcontractors to align with independent cost estimates. </li><li>Prepare and review material take-offs from planning documents or engineering drawings. </li><li>Accumulate, evaluate, and document historical cost data for the development of future estimates. </li><li>Review contract documents to determine scope of work and equitable cost allowance for scope changes. </li><li>Engage in change order negotiations by reviewing contractor potential change order claims for merit and negotiating to final resolution. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>Must have estimating experience related to both engineering and construction projects. </li><li>Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite software - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. </li><li>Experience with On-Screen Takeoffs and Bluebeam. </li><li>Knowledge of Prolog. </li><li>Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or related field. </li><li>Certified estimating professional credential required (CCE, CCP, CPE, PMP). </li><li>Experience working with outside agencies like FAA, General Services division, LADWP, etc. </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrated experience with complex estimate reconciliations and change order negotiations. </li><li>Comprehensive knowledge of construction-related processes and industry practices. </li><li>Self-starter attitude with a results-oriented focus. </li><li>Effective oral and written communication skills. </li><li>Ability to effectively interact with various departments to maintain open lines of communication. </li><li>Comfortable operating in a team-oriented, collaborative work environment. </li><li>Produce accurate and timely results while maintaining a customer service attitude. </li><li>Detail-oriented and highly organized. </li><li>Demonstrated experience working on multiple projects simultaneously. </li></ul> <p>Pay and Benefits</p> <p>The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $140000.00/yr.</p> <p>Comprehensive Benefits Package: paid holidays and vacation days, attractive compensation, health insurance (medical/dental/vision), 100% employer-paid life/AD&D & long-term disability benefits, 401k, license & certification reimbursement program, and an employee referral program</p> <p>Workplace Type</p> <p>This is a hybrid position in Irvine,CA.</p> <p>Application Deadline</p> <p>This position is anticipated to close on May 21, 2025.</p> <p>About Actalent</p> <p>Actalent is a global leader in engineering and sciences services and talent solutions.
