Prepares project designs and determines cost estimates. 4. Directs and manages research support services for University-wide research. 5. Determines and develops material specifications and purchases. 7. Assigns design projects to staff. 8. Ensures technical effectiveness and manages departmental operation for research support services. 9. Monitors project schedules and assigns billing charges. 10. For additional information on the background check requirements and process visit "Learn about background checks" under the Applicant Support Resources section of Careers on the It's Your Yale website.</p> <p>Position Focus:</p> <p>Reporting to the Vice Chair for Research Affairs, the MRI Hardware Engineer will be a part of a vibrant team of scientists and engineers in Yale's world-renowned MR imaging center. The MR Center is now an interdepartmental and interdisciplinary research laboratory that provides state-of-the-art MR equipment, infrastructure, and expertise for the development and application of MRI and MRS methodology in biomedical research. Research is focused on the study of intact biological systems by developing methods for obtaining structural, functional, physiological and biochemical information by MRI, MRS and other techniques. Applications include fMRI for neurosurgery and neuroscience; brain, muscle, and liver energy metabolism; diabetes; adult and juvenile epilepsy; and psychiatric disorders.</p> <p>We are looking for experienced MRI hardware engineers with expertise in magnet design, gradient design, construction, and manufacturing. This position will be responsible for building gradient sets, interfacing gradients with low noise amplifiers, gradient measurement and correction schemes, and associated electronics, among other assigned tasks.</p> <p>You will collaborate with a team of engineers on the construction of a novel low-cost MRI device in an environment where creative problem solving is encouraged.
