<p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</p> <p>Other duties may be assigned depending upon operational needs</p> <p>Primary Duties</p> <ul> <li>Follow up with day to day operations and allocate resources as needed to ensure production demands are met in a safe and timely fashion. </li><li>Review quality data on a daily basis and follow up as needed to inspect equipment and modify sanitation or process procedures. </li><li>Review safety practices and procedures on a regular basis and make corrections as needed. </li><li>Manage inventories of raw materials, packaging supplies, and finished product. Follow up on Oracle inventories and correct as needed. Perform physical counts. </li><li>Work with the shift supervisors to help them grow and develop in their positions. Act as a resource a resource for the shift supervisors and ensure correct transfer of information and knowledge is consistent. </li><li>Coordinate with maintenance personnel to ensure preventative and corrective maintenance is performed in an efficient and timely manner. </li><li>Schedule shift supervisor vacations, training, and other events that require them to be off shift. Cover open shifts as needed. </li><li>Identify key areas for process or procedure improvements. Perform testing and analysis to ensure positive results before implementation. </li><li>Coordinate scheduling and allocation of overtime or temporary labor. </li><li>Assist in interviewing, hiring, discipline, and training of new employees. </li><li>Work closely with human resources to facilitate department administration and ensure company policy is adhered to. </li><li>Provide leadership and be a good example to all supervisors and employees. </li><li>Perform tours of the department to individuals in a wide range of disciplines and knowledge bases. </li></ul> <p>Secondary Duties</p> <ul> <li>Special projects as assigned by CY/NUT Superintendent, Production Manager, and Plant Manager. When instructed, temporarily replace CY/NUT Superintendent in his basic activities and responsibilities during absences. </li></ul> <p>Supervisory Responsibilities</p> <p>Directly supervises 4 floor supervisors (indirectly supervises 20-40 operators) in the packaging and nutritional departments.</p> <p>Deputy</p> <p>The deputy for this position is the Packaging Superintendent.</p> <p>This position serves as a deputy for the following positions: Packaging Superintendent.</p> <p>Environmental, Safety, Quality, and Legal Requirements</p> <p>Understand and follow:</p> <ul> <li>Environmental: Universal Waste, Hazardous Waste, SPCC, Title V (Nutritional Particulate) </li><li>Safety: All applicable OSHA Rules and Regulations </li><li>Quality: Quality Management System </li><li>Legal: all pertinent Human Resources, Environmental and Safety Laws and Regulations </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. High speed packaging and/or drying experience preferred. </li><li>Ability to coordinate multiple priorities and follow through to completion. </li><li>Excellent mechanical aptitude and trouble-shooting skills. </li><li>Advanced knowledge of word, excel, power point, and e-mail. </li><li>Ability to develop spreadsheets, memos, and reports. </li><li>Excellent management, leadership, and people skills. </li><li>Ability to prioritize, organize, and delegate work. </li><li>Solid understanding of basic math and science and the ability to apply this knowledge. </li><li>Ability to analyze data and facts and make decisions based upon this information. </li></ul> <p>Education</p> <p>Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering preferred.</p> <p>Language Skills</p> <p>Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, PID charts, and procedure manuals. Ability to write basic reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.</p> <p>Mathematical Skills</p> <p>Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.</p> <p>Reasoning Ability</p> <p>Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized and non-standardized situations.</p> <p>Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations</p> <p>Ability to be forklift certified required.</p> <p>Ability to be CPR/First Aid certified required.</p> <p>Physical Demands</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.</p> <p>Facial Hair Policy</p> <p>Employees working in this position will be required to follow Red Star Yeast's facial hair policy. This is due to requirement of this position to wear respiratory protection.</p>
