<p>Centralia Elementary School District</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent, Student Services POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for identification, assessment, placement and specialized instruction for students at grade levels pre-school through sixth grade, with disorders of speech, hearing and/or language. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Possession of or ability to obtain a valid California Clinical Rehabilitative Services or Restricted Speech and Hearing Credential, and a valid California Driver License. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Identifies those students with speech, language and/or hearing disorders through referrals from school personnel, parents or outside agencies, and also through screening of selected grade levels. Assesses speech, language and hearing disorders employing evaluative instruments and data gathering techniques. Diagnoses communication problems of students and recommends the appropriate placement/services. Works with assigned students to correct or minimize their communication disorders. Confers with and provides information to students, parents, and teachers regarding the program in progress for that student. Attends IEP and other professional meetings. Evaluates the progress of assigned students based on testing and observation to determine further needs. Coordinates the program for students with speech, language and/or hearing disorders with the total educational program of each assigned school to the extent possible. Operates a computer terminal to enter data, maintain records and generate reports. Maintains confidentiality of records and privileged communications. Communicates effectively both orally and in writing. Meets schedules and timelines. Establishes and maintains effective relationships with others. Drives a vehicle to carry out duties and responsibilities of position. Other related duties as assigned. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that this position must perform in carrying out essential job functions. Persons performing services in this position classification will frequently exert 25-50 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. This type of work involves sitting, standing, walking, bending and stooping from brief periods of time to lengthy periods of time.
