This individual will be an integral part of the engineering design group, reporting to the A/E Operations Manager, and work with other designers, engineers, and clients to develop designs and solutions with limited direction, in support of complex projects and matters related to Instrumentation & Controls design for manufacturing and construction industry projects. You will possess strong familiarity with mathematical and engineering principles and methods used to design systems on client projects for life science, biopharmaceutical, and/or semiconductor facilities. The I&C Engineer is expected to lead a team of engineers on complex projects, mentor junior engineers, and work independently with clients.</p> <p>Proven success working for an A/E or EPCM consulting company in a similar role, supporting projects related to cleanrooms, laboratories, semiconductor fab, data center, solar manufacturing, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical industries is highly desirable.</p> <p>Local candidates preferred within the greater Albany, NY area. Relocation assistance available within the United States for selected candidate. Will consider a remote/WFH candidate with direct Semiconductor experience and ability to work as an I&C Engineer level I or II.</p> <p>Role accountabilities:</p> <ul> <li>Act as I&C Engineer on small to large projects with varying complexity. Oversee small team of Engineers and Designers, maintain and foster morale and culture within the team. </li><li>Interact and coordinate with project management, vendors, clients, design members and fellow engineers to solve complex process engineering and piping issues. </li><li>Support Business Development Activities as required. </li><li>Review and develop Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) in conjunction with Process and Mechanical Engineers. </li><li>Select, apply, and specify instrumentation required to support processes. </li><li>Develop Instrument Data Sheets and lists, Panel layouts and details. </li><li>Ability to arrange Instrumentation & Controls equipment on plan drawings and create single-line diagrams. </li><li>Develop Sequences of Operation for Processes in conjunction with Process and Mechanical Engineers. </li><li>Verify that the design is consistent with industry-accepted practice, leading-edge technologies, and special client-preferred features. </li><li>Controls/Systems Engineering experience involving: DCS, PLC, MES, SCADA, bus technologies, Ethernet/IP. </li><li>Perform self QA/QC on deliverables, as well as on deliverables by other engineers. </li><li>Complete engineering studies and reports. </li><li>Participate in Services During Construction activities including reviewing RFI's, submittals, responding to design change notices, issuing field change bulletins, attending site walk-throughs, and issuing field observation reports, developing operational and functional acceptance tests, developing record drawings and producing other system documentation. </li><li>Understand and work within the scope, schedule, deliverables, and man-hours budgeted for assigned tasks. </li><li>Support, by active participation, corporate and discipline-specific procedures, and policies. </li><li>Regularly collaborate with global and US engineering counterparts with respect to technology advancements, lessons learned, and design techniques and calculations. </li><li>Contribute to the development of the Discipline knowledge base and standards. </li><li>Attend self-improvement seminars and/or courses and professional society meetings in areas of focus. </li><li>Perform technical and business presentations with clients and employees </li><li>Mentor junior engineers on basic engineering applications and principals </li><li>Assist in the selection and development of the I&C engineering staff </li><li>Maintain continuous positive relationships with staff, other disciplines and clients </li><li>Participate in Client interviews and proposal development </li><li>Produce and review 2D and 3D design drawings for high technology facilities in accordance with project requirements, codes, specifications, and procedures. </li><li>Participate in multi-discipline coordination & clash checking efforts </li><li>Site surveys of existing services to ascertain "as-built" conditions. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications & Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical/Controls, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline required, with 3-5 years' experience in engineering, drafting and design. Ambitions to obtain professional licensure highly desired and supported. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to lead small teams and work with multidiscipline teams. </li><li>Ability to create, read and interpret engineering drawings related to electrical instrumentation & controls using applicable software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, Bluebeam, SKM or other relevant engineering software required. Strong proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite required; Excel, Word, PowerPoint. </li><li>Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) and International Building Codes (IBC) desired. </li><li>Strongly motivated, well organized, and shows professional initiative. Ability to multitask on multiple projects and work independently. Ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills (English). </li><li>Local candidates preferred, Open to consider Remote employee.
