<p>Responsibilities</p> <p>Performs a variety of routine tasks to support the delivery of safe, effective, cost-efficient patient care</p> <p>as delegated by the RN. They provide assistance in transporting, transferring and lifting. They</p> <p>perform cleaning Functions in patient care unit as delegated, and perform selected diagnostic tests.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ol> <li> <p>Provides direct patient care as delegated by RN staff</p> </li><li> <p>Monitors and records vital signs</p> </li><li> <p>Assists in providing personal hygiene and physical care needs</p> </li><li> <p>Accurately measures, records, and reports intake and output</p> </li><li> <p>Obtains and records daily weight</p> </li><li> <p>Performs blood glucose testing using blood glucose meter</p> </li><li> <p>Reports changes in patient's status promptly to RN</p> </li><li> <p>Performs as patient care companion when needed</p> </li><li> <p>Assists in the admission, transfer and discharge process</p> </li><li> <p>Performs unit housekeeping needs</p> </li><li> <p>Acts as a runner/transporter</p> </li><li> <p>Checks and documents refrigerator temperatures as delegated, reporting variances to</p> </li></ol> <p>appropriate personnel</p> <ol start="13"> <li> <p>Updates assigned bed status</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains a safe environment by responding to all bed alarms, call lights, telephones and</p> </li></ol> <p>alerting the correct person</p> <ol start="15"> <li>Keeps patient environment clean, Performs comfort rounds, keeps hallways clear of obstruction, </li></ol> <p>no food or drink at the workstation, reports safety issues and broken equipment appropriately, and</p> <p>adheres to patient safety precautions</p> <ol start="16"> <li>Communicates with patient's family, physicians, and unit personnel and peers in an accurate, </li></ol> <p>courteous, and professional manner</p> <ol start="17"> <li>Acts as receptionist for the unit; has limited use of the hospital information systems according to </li></ol> <p>hospital policy dependent on the need of the unit. This can include, but not limited to: consulting</p> <p>in EPIC, navigate through EPIC, discharge patients, put milestones into tele tracking, maintain paper</p> <p>charts and checking on MD orders</p> <ol start="18"> <li> <p>Removes saline locks</p> </li><li> <p>Order floor stock and puts it away</p> </li><li> <p>Perform 12 lead EKGs where unit allows</p> </li><li> <p>Other duties as assigned by manager</p> </li></ol> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Required Education and Experience:</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or GED </li><li>One (1) year direct patient care experience </li></ul> <p>Required Licensure and Certifications:</p> <ul> <li>BLS-CPR </li></ul> <p>Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills,</p> <p>Abilities, and Training:</p> <ul> <li>Good written/oral communication skills </li><li>Completion of PCA II Orientation CBO Checkoff </li></ul> <p>Overview</p> <p>Welcome to Flaget Memorial Hospital, a 52-bed facility located in Bardstown, Kentucky.
