<p>Description</p> <p>Join Team Moval's Animal Services Division</p> <p>Protect the safety and welfare of animals and citizens in our community.</p> <p>The City of Moreno Valley is looking to fill two (2) Animal Control Officer Positions</p> <p>in the Community Development Animal Services Division.</p> <ul> <li>This recruitment will establish an eligibility list for vacancies in the next 6 months* </li></ul> <p>The Position</p> <p>Animal Control Officers are responsible for performing routine to moderately difficult animal control duties. Under general supervision, you will take a full range of action in conformance with state and local laws relating to the safety, health, welfare and control of both domestic and wild animals. In this role, you will have frequent interactions with the public to explain laws and regulations relating to the care and control of animals and may issue citations and/or notices in connection with violations. Work requires the application of approved methods, techniques, and devices in the pickup and capture of injured, sick and vicious animals to avoid or minimize personal risk. Incumbents may also humanely destroy animals in accordance with established procedures using approved methods.</p> <p>Find additional information in theAnimal Control Officerjob description.</p> <p>Our Ideal Candidate</p> <p>Has excellent customer service and teamwork skills, including effectively dealing with individuals who are difficult, hostile or distressed, being able to relate well to people from varied backgrounds and in different situations; being sensitive to cultural diversity; and being able to work with others to achieve goals/objectives.</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent; and two years of experience in the care and handling of animals; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.</p> <p>The Animal Services Division</p> <p>The Animal Services Division provides animal care and protection services for our community. Operating under the Community Development Department, we are committed to providing:</p> <ul> <li>Quality humane animal services and sheltering </li><li>Rabies control through investigation of animal bites </li><li>Control of stray animals, licensing, and public education </li><li>Public veterinary services </li><li>Pet adoptions, lost and found services and humane education </li><li>Enforcement of public safety </li><li>Animal cruelty and nuisance ordinances </li></ul> <p>ABOUT THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT</p> <p>The Community Development Department (CDD) provides a variety of development, business and property owner services. The CDD administers development review and project entitlement activities, performs long range planning, and maintains the City's General Plan. The department also performs building plan review, issues various permits and performs inspections for new and altered projects. The CDD manages a comprehensive community enhancement program that includes nuisance abatement, and parking control among a host of other services.
