<p>Supervisor, Radiology A Brief Overview Coordinates and supervises daily activities and performs professional radiology services required for x-ray and other radiographic examinations (i.e. Diagnostic, CT, Interventional, Ultrasound) in accordance with established policies and procedures. Plans work schedules, assigns duties/activities to professional/ancillary staff and monitors daily workflow to ensure that quality service is provided and to achieve positive patient outcomes. Resolves complaints, conflicts and operational problems to facilitate efficient radiology services and image quality. What you will do Apprises Manager of any departmental issues, pertinent changes in internal/external market, threats, and opportunities in a timely and anticipatory manner with action plans for immediate implementation/approval. Plans work schedules, assigns work and monitors daily workflow with consideration for the needs of each patient and to ensure that workload is carried out through individual or cooperative activities; expedites examination/testing of patients as needed; sets priorities and redirects employees as the need arises to ensure image quality and timely services. <em>Performs clinical rounds within the unit, reviewing patient charts and department records to ensure that activities/procedures are performed timely and in accordance with professional standards and practices. </em>Ensures patients are transported in a safe and timely manner. <em>Ensures required documentation is completed thoroughly, accurately, and in a timely manner. </em>Ensures staff meets daily productivity levels as necessitated by staffing, patient volume, and departmental needs. Oversees the work of radiology personnel and instructs them in providing technical care such as the administration of examination and the setup, regulation and monitoring of equipment. Reviews observations and interpretation of patient data and condition and radiolographic equipment. Verifies that all examinations have been performed by staff, charted to Radiology Information System and transmitted to PACS information system. <em>Instructs or assigns new employees to others for in-service instruction and orientation. </em>Assists in the orientation and oversees the supervision of students when they provide patient care, treatment, and services as part of their training. <em>Supervises assigned employees; follows up with Radiology Manager regarding performance evaluation, disciplinary action and other employee issues. Serves as the service unit liaison and resource, exchanging information with nursing/clinic staff and physicians. </em>Works collaboratively with nursing/medical/hospital staff, patients and family members in a customer responsive/professional manner, in compliance with MEDCARE standards and promoting patient/customer satisfaction. <em>Keeps patients/families informed about anticipated procedures/tests, delays, and addresses all concerns in a timely manner. </em>Answers inquiries and resolves operational problems; communicates and interprets policies, procedures and standards of practices. Investigates and answers queries from physicians, patients and family members regarding radiology services. <em>Maintains safety and traffic control of patients in the unit. Investigates and prepares reports on accidents and other incidents involving patients, employees and visitors. </em>Works collaboratively with the medical staff and promotes a team approach to patient care. Consults with the medical staff on issues impacting the throughput of radiology patients and the utilization of staff to optimize care delivery. * Makes changes and recommendations as needed to enhance/improve services and efficiency in operations. Performs routine and special radiology procedures as ordered by physician, consistent with radiology policies and procedures, demonstrated competencies, and with consideration given to risk management, infection control practices, patient safety practices and departmental activities. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to provide radiology services, maintain competence and meets age-specific patient needs in a caring, compassionate and sensitive manner. Maintains required department records, reports and files for administrative and compliance purposes. Maintains established department policies, procedures, objectives, compliance/quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Assists in development and maintenance of department#s budget. Ensures charges are accurately captured for services provided. Applies cost effective measures and utilizes defined departmental procedures to allocate resources related to manpower, supplies and inventory. Assists with maintenance and care of department equipment. Completes required continuous training and education, including department specific requirements. Responds to problems/opportunities to improve work environment and participates in unit based performance improvement activities which includes committees, monitoring and follow-up. Qualifications Requires knowledge acquired through completion and graduation from an approved Radiology Technology Program and two to three years Radiology experience. Required ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Upon Hire Required and CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation Upon Hire Required or BCLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required and Additional certification may be required based on area of assignment Upon Hire Required Qualified by education, training or experience to work with the neonatal, adolescent, adult and/or geriatric adult population as specialty assignment dictates.
