We are made up of a diverse group of individuals who are committed to building in the communities in which we live and work.</p> <p>We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Accountant to support our Corporate Controller and oversee key aspects of project accounting across the organization. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate and timely month-end close, maintaining job cost integrity, and managing the lifecycle of projects from setup through closeout.</p> <p>This is a senior-level individual contributor role with no direct supervisory responsibilities, ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on, fast-paced construction environment.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Assist Corporate Controller with monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes </li><li>Prepare and review account reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules </li><li>Manage the job setup process, ensuring accuracy of budgets, cost codes, and contract details </li><li>Maintain and monitor job cost accounting and ensure data integrity across all active projects </li><li>Manage project team accounting needs related to owner draws, change orders, contract setup, and other project related items </li><li>Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards </li><li>Manage fixed asset records within Sage Fixed Assets software </li><li>Assist Corporate Controller with annual budgeting process </li><li>Distribute monthly and ad hoc reporting to operations and project teams </li><li>Research technical topics such as sales and use tax, B&O tax, GAAP principles, etc., as needed </li><li>Assist with internal and external audits </li><li>Additional related duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li> <p>Bachelor's degree in Accounting (required)</p> </li><li> <p>CPA license (strongly preferred)</p> </li><li> <p>3-6+ years of accounting experience, preferably in:</p> </li><li> <p>Construction or project-based accounting</p> </li><li> <p>Public accounting (strongly preferred)</p> </li><li> <p>Tax background (a plus)</p> </li><li> <p>Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas such as Xlookup/Vlookup, Sumifs, If, and other logical formulas, as well as proficiency using pivot tables and other technical functions.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong understanding of job costing, project accounting, and GAAP financial reporting</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of sales, B&O, payroll, and income taxation principles</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to manage multiple priorities, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.</p> </li><li> <p>High level of attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Effective communication skills, and ability to collaborate cross-functionally.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience with ERP/Accounting Systems (Viewpoint Vista preferred)</p> </li></ul> <p>Walsh Construction Co. values our diverse communities and is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
