<p>Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking an experienced Fabricator / Welder for our client in Portland, OR. This position supports structural steel fabrication and installation for commercial buildings, bridges, and large infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with the following: structural steel layout and fit-up, blueprint reading, flux core welding, fabrication of beams and columns, and safe operation of lifting equipment in a production environment.</p> <p>Pay & Schedule</p> <p>Pay: $28-$32/hour DOE</p> <p>Shift: Monday-Friday, Swing Shift 2:30pm start (paid lunch)</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Read and interpret structural steel blueprints, shop drawings, and layout plans </li><li>Perform layout, fit-up, and alignment of beams, columns, braces, frames, and assemblies </li><li>Measure, cut, drill, and prepare steel components per project specifications </li><li>Perform welding and fabrication as required (primarily structural applications) </li><li>Work closely with welders and team members to ensure proper fit and weld placement </li><li>Inspect completed assemblies to ensure compliance with drawings and tolerances </li><li>Operate cranes, hoists, and lifting equipment to position structural components </li><li>Maintain tools and equipment while following OSHA and site-specific safety procedures </li><li>Work at heights and in physically demanding environments as required </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>3+ years of experience as a Structural Steel Fitter, Fabricator, or Welder </li><li>Strong ability to read and interpret structural steel blueprints and technical drawings </li><li>Experience performing layout and fit-up for structural components </li><li>Experience operating cranes, hoists, or heavy lifting equipment </li><li>Ability to work safely at heights and in industrial environments </li><li>Dependable attendance and strong safety awareness </li><li>Ability to lift heavy materials and perform frequent standing, bending, and kneeling </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience on large-scale structural projects (bridges, commercial buildings, infrastructure) </li><li>Flux core welding experience </li><li>Structural welding certifications (AWS or similar) </li><li>Experience assisting with technical fit-up or field modifications </li></ul> <p>Benefits</p> <ul> <li>Medical </li><li>Paid Sick Leave </li><li>Paid Holidays </li><li>401(k) with Company Match </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>This role operates in a structural steel fabrication and installation environment.
