This is a full-time position.</p> <p>Day-to-Day Job Duties:</p> <p>Responsible for analyzing the financial position of the credit union. Will assist with plan reporting and reconciliation, processing financial transactions, tracking expenses, and developing financial models through benchmarking. Will also keep records of financial transactions while ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for the Credit Union by performing the following duties.</p> <p>Duties/Responsibilities</p> <p>The following duties are normal for this position but should not be interpreted as all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.</p> <ul> <li>Assist in the preparation of financial reports. </li><li>Analyze financial performance and develop forecast models. </li><li>Assist in managing and coordinating the key financial measures (revenue, gross profit, expense, and profit and cash), and advise on cost reducing techniques. </li><li>Able to develop automated accounting/financial applications to improve productivity. </li><li>Summarizes details in subsidiary ledgers or data files and completes updates to accounting software systems. Verifies, allocates, and posts details of business transactions to subsidiary accounts by journal entry from various source documents. </li><li>Conduct thorough research of historical financial data to forecast quarterly and annual cost projections. </li><li>Reconcile general ledger accounts, including bank accounts and high importance accounts as assigned. Assists with maintaining the chart of accounts in the core and accounting system, including GL translations, as directed by the Finance or Accounting Supervisor. </li><li>Assists with month-end and year-end close processes, audits, and tax reporting. Prepare ad-hoc accounting reports and analyses as requested. </li><li>Displays a strong aptitude for and understanding of accounting concepts. Ability to take the lead on more complex accounting assignments and projects. Ability to propose recommendations for new processes and improvements to existing processes to management. </li><li>Effectively communicates with internal personnel and third parties when matters require special coordination. Acts as one of the leads in the department to address accounting-related questions from other internal departments. </li><li>Participate in budgeting preparation (for departments and projects) </li><li>Maintain confidentiality of financial information and investment decisions </li><li>All team members must comply with regulatory compliance and assigned training requirements including but not limited to BSA regulations corresponding to their specific job duties. This includes the SAFE Act. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary and other employment related actions. </li><li>Assist in training new personnel and overseeing the cross-training of the Accounting/Finance Department staff to maintain backup in all positions. </li><li>Provides accounting information to management and/or other departments, as needed. </li><li>Assists in researching outages in the general ledger. </li><li>Other duties may be assigned by the VP of Finance. </li></ul> <p>BENEFITS</p> <p>We are proud to offer competitive wages and an extensive benefits package including employer paid medical, dental, vision, basic life and AD&D, long-term and short-term disability for all employees (additional coverage for family members may be selected at the expense of the employee). Visit our careers page to learn more. https://tencu.com/about-us/careers.html</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Experience in or knowledge of financial institution products, services, and records preferred </li><li>Must possess strong working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles </li><li>Experience in or knowledge of banking and finance related to money management and cash flows required </li><li>Must possess knowledge of cash management, expenditure controls, and disbursement processes </li><li>Must possess knowledge of federal tax guidelines and laws as they relate to employer and non-profit organizations </li><li>Must possess knowledge of data processing capabilities and procedures </li><li>Must possess excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of employees and outside vendors </li><li>Strong ability to manage time efficiently by organizing, prioritizing, and delegating required </li><li>Must possess the ability to effectively coordinate many projects simultaneously with a high degree of accuracy and competency </li><li>Strong analytical and reasoning skills required </li></ul> <p>REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration from a four-year college or university required, or equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the functions of the position. </li><li>Minimum one to three years' prior accounting experience required, preferably in a credit union or financial institution environment. </li><li>Experience working in a financial institution preferred. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
