<p>Job Description:</p> <p>SUMMARY: Assist in small group and individual pupil instruction</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned</p> <ul> <li>Assist students with instruction under the direction of the special education teacher. </li><li>Assist teacher in maintaining discipline and other (non) instructional units. </li><li>Position requires lifting, positioning, and toileting student. </li><li>Regular attendance is required for this position. </li><li>Will involve work with special education students under the direction of teachers. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Two years of college credit OR hold an associate's (or higher) degree; OR successful completion of a paraprofessional assessment which assesses content knowledge in mathematics, reading and writing and an understanding of how to assist in the instruction of these topics (Parapro Assessment).</p> <p>Language Skills:</p> <p>Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.</p> <p>Reasoning Ability:</p> <p>Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.</p> <p>Physical Demands:</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
