<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Phlebotomist is responsible for accurate collection and handling of patient laboratory specimens for diagnostic testing according to established best practice in a manner that enhances patient and caregiver engagement in an experienced manner.</p> <p>Posting Specifics:</p> <ul> <li>Hours: Day Shift 0500-1330, every other weekend and some Holidays </li><li>Part time </li><li>Location: Good Samaritan Hospital </li><li>Benefits Eligible </li></ul> <p>Scope</p> <ul> <li>Phlebotomist is responsible for accurately collecting patient specimens for diagnostic testing while working in a professional medical environment. This position functions as part of a dynamic and engaging team with a workload that ranges from fast-paced hospital settings and high/low volume clinics. Caregivers in this role will have valuable experience and knowledge that brings a higher level of expertise to laboratory services' phlebotomy. </li><li>The Phlebotomist II performs specimen collection using many different techniques such as venipuncture, capillary puncture, PIVO, and throat swab collections. These caregivers collect specimens from patients of various acuities, such as Outpatient, Emergency Department, and Inpatient - including newborns, patients in intensive care, and all other areas of the hospital. They are at the forefront of patient care and adhere to and enforce the standards for laboratory compliance and safety regulations. </li><li>Adherence to personal protective requirements in inpatient and/or outpatient settings, including but not limited to gowns, gloves, lab coats, face shields, and masks. </li><li>Intermountain Caregivers in this role will communicate procedures and instructions with patients and family members and demonstrate empathy during every interaction. They will also have opportunities for growth and developing skills such as: </li><li>Patient or client registrations </li><li>Participation in CODE response teams </li><li>Training as a clinical coach or preceptor </li><li>Specimen Processing - send out testing, resulting or referral testing </li><li>Participation in special projects </li><li>Quality Assurance processes </li><li>Waived Testing </li><li>Technical Writing </li><li>Downtime planning </li><li>Continuous Improvement Projects </li><li>Other laboratory responsibilities as required by site or assigned by the team or department leader. </li><li>This position requires organizational skills, as well as the ability to navigate multiple computer systems, work well as a member of a team, and maintain a clean and safe work environment. Candidates applying for a phlebotomy role are resilient and can manage stressful situations professionally. </li><li>Ability to take on-call shifts and participate in holiday rotations, according to department or facility needs. </li><li>Perform advanced collection and troubleshooting techniques such as bilateral nares or non-standard kit collection. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma, Preferred. </li><li>Twelve months of phlebotomy experience, phlebotomy training or national certification as approved by manager/supervisor, Preferred. </li></ul> <p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
