Actual salary placement will be in accordance with the salary procedures of the Frederick County Public School System. Please see linked salary scale for the full range.</p> <p>Role</p> <p>Under the direction of the administration and administrative secretary, this position provides secretarial support for a variety of functions within the school.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <p>Reporting directly to the School Administrator, the Secretary performs the following duties:</p> <ul> <li>Answers telephone, takes messages, greets visitors, makes appointments, and gives information. </li><li>Maintains consistent and reliable attendance. </li><li>Types and enters data for letters, schedules, reports, forms, and other materials. </li><li>Effectively uses the automated purchasing system, student information system, and substitute calling system. </li><li>Maintains proficiency in the use of office technology to meet administrative needs. </li><li>Maintains filing systems, student records, attendance reports, logs, and field trip records. </li><li>Collects monies for various school purposes and keeps appropriate records of such funds. </li><li>Orders and receives supplies and checks invoices. </li><li>Assists in maintaining property accountability. </li><li>Assists in scheduling use of facilities. </li><li>Assists with registration and transfer of records. </li><li>Composes routine correspondence. </li><li>Distributes mail and supplies. </li></ul> <p>Performs other duties as assigned by the School Administrator.</p> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.). </li><li>Demonstrates ability to effectively use word processing, database, spreadsheet, and email software. </li><li>Demonstrates ability to maintain confidentiality. </li><li>Demonstrates ability to communicate clearly and concisely in oral and written form. </li><li>Demonstrates ability to work under pressure and maintain flexibility. </li><li>Demonstrates strong human relations skills. </li><li>Demonstrates proficiency in business math. </li><li>Capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations. </li><li>Regular and predictable attendance. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Five (5) years relevant office/clerical experience. </li><li>Demonstrates proofreading ability, and creation of a table in a word processing program. </li><li>Demonstrates strong human relations skills, with adults and students, which have created a positive and inviting work environment. </li><li>Demonstrates ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision. </li><li>Familiarity with the FCPS policies, goals and programs. </li></ul> <p>FREDERICK COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER</p> <p>THIS JOB DESCRIPTION HAS BEEN WRITTEN TO INDICATE THE GENERAL NATURE AND LEVEL OF WORK PERFORMED BY AN EMPLOYEE HOLDING THIS POSITION.
