<p>Job Title Part-time AI Engineer Department CIST Essential Functions</p> <p>AI-CCORE (AI Collaborative for Outreach, Research and Education) is a UNO-funded initiative with the vision of becoming a global leader and a one-stop hub for customized AI services and education. Our mission is to cultivate the next generation of AI specialists and leaders who will drive socio-economic progress and enhance the well-being of Nebraska and beyond.</p> <p>As a catalyst for AI-driven innovation, AI-CCORE fosters strategic partnerships between businesses and students, positioning Nebraska as a national leader in multidisciplinary, translational AI. Our efforts aim to stimulate economic growth while championing the development and deployment of responsible AI solutions.</p> <p>The key responsibilities of the part-time AI Engineer include:</p> <ul> <li>Design and implement AI workflows by integrating open-source and proprietary enterprise foundation models for use in research, enterprise solutions, and educational initiatives such as AI internships, masterclasses, and bootcamps. </li><li>Develop, optimize, and maintain AI agentic systems tailored to domain-specific applications across higher education, healthcare, finance, ad transportation sectors. </li></ul> <p>Work Schedule Varies Additional Duties Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Computing. </li><li>Experience in designing, deploying, and maintaining Agentic AI infrastructure. </li><li>Experience with Open and Proprietary LLMs, tools, and frameworks (Streamlit, Langchain, HuggingFace,). </li><li>Familiarity with prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and multi-modal AI including images and text </li><li>Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field. </li><li>2+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering, Image Processing, Data Pipelines. </li><li>Knowledge of ethical AI principles and regulatory compliance in AI deployments. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
