<p>Job Description</p> <p>Student Advising & Education ~ 50%</p> <ul> <li>Provide individual career advising to students regarding the job or internship search process; including resumes/CVs, interviewing, letter writing, networking, salary negotiation and other career preparation areas. </li><li>Provide advising and resources for students pursuing admission to graduate school as well as educational resources for those seeking career paths in other areas, such as entrepreneurial ventures. </li><li>Lead or co-lead career-related programing on the topics outlined above; e.g. an interviewing workshop. </li></ul> <p>Experiential Learning & Networking Programs ~ 20%</p> <ul> <li>Collaborate with staff on student experiential learning and networking programs connecting students with employers, such as job shadowing, career road trips, and industry nights. </li><li>Independently lead and plan one career road trip and one industry night. </li></ul> <p>Employer Recruiting Events ~ 10%</p> <ul> <li>Collaborate with staff to assist with events like the Career Fair and Next Day Interviews </li><li>Gain basic skills with a career management system (used to facilitate employer registration, fee collection, student information. </li></ul> <p>Employer / Alumni Development ~10%</p> <ul> <li>Provide support to established partners as needed or appropriate. </li><li>Assist with the cultivation of new employer & alumni prospective relationships. </li></ul> <p>Other ~ 10%</p> <ul> <li>Collaborate on or manage participant report data from various types of programs - design, collect, and analyze. </li><li>Gain a basic understanding of various marketing tools and social media. </li><li>Gain an understanding of the career readiness competencies for the workplace. </li><li>Learn how to implement career readiness competencies. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Graduate student of good academic standing at KU. (see Position Requirements) </li><li>Excellent written communication skills as evidenced in application materials. </li><li>Meets KBOR-mandated English proficiency requirements, if applicable. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Public service experience and/or customer service skills as demonstrated in the application materials. </li><li>Teaching and/or training experience as demonstrated in the application materials. </li><li>Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team, as evidenced in application materials. </li></ul> <p>Position Requirements</p> <p>During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).</p>
