<p>Position Type:</p> <p>Support Staff/Paraprofessional (Instructional)</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>7/10/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Manchester Township High School</p> <p>Date Available:</p> <p>September 2025</p> <p>Closing Date:</p> <p>7/20/25</p> <p>  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>Title: Para-Professional/Special Education Aide</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma </li><li>No Child Left Behind standards will be adhered to as required. </li><li>Minimum experience as determined by the Board. </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and school staff. </li><li>Knowledge of child growth and development, appropriate classroom practices and diverse needs of children with disabilities. </li><li>Sensitive to the needs of at-risk children. </li><li>Required criminal history check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status. </li></ul> <p>Reports To: Certified classroom teacher, principal/director of special services and teacher/related service personnel.</p> <p>Job Goal:</p> <ul> <li>To promote the achievement of student's educational goals and learning objectives by providing supplementary and clerical services to assist the classroom teacher. </li><li>To assist the classroom teacher by working with individual and small groups of disabled students to provide them with physical help and emotional support as needed to gain optimum benefit from the district's special education program. </li></ul> <p>Performance Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Assists the classroom teacher in the delivery of an effective instructional program. </li><li>Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills introduced by the teacher. </li><li>Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes. </li><li>Helps students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by teacher. </li><li>Distributes and collects workbooks, papers, and other materials for instruction. </li><li>Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work assigned by the teacher. </li><li>Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, playground, field trips, arrival and dismissal times, lunch and special area classes. </li><li>Helps the teacher to plan and maintain bulletin board and other classroom learning displays. </li><li>Reads to students, listens to students read, and participates in other forms of oral communication with students to encourage language development. </li><li>Checks notebooks, corrects papers, and supervises testing and make-up work, as assigned by the teacher. </li><li>Performs clerical duties related to the instructional program including attendance reports, collection of money, duplication of materials, and distribution and return of notices to home. </li><li>Assists in taking care of physical needs of the special education pupil, including putting on and taking of outerwear, moving from room to room and using the lavatory. Physical needs may include but are not limited to activities for daily learning skills such as diapering, toileting, feeding, lifting, putting on braces, etc.* </li><li>Assists, where appropriate, in loading and unloading the special education pupil from transportation buses or vans. Loading and unloading children may require special positioning and lifting." </li><li>Participates in in-service training as assigned. </li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned by the school principal. </li><li>Hepatitis B vaccination will be offered according to policy. </li><li>Training will be provided by appropriate certified personnel. </li></ul>
