<p>NICU (Full-time, Night Shift)</p> <p>Job Summary: The Clinical Nurse C-Inpatient utilizes skilled discretion and independent judgment to prioritize, coordinate, provide and document direct and indirect age-specific and developmentally appropriate quality patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment. Performs the nursing process (assessment, care planning, intervention, evaluation) independently and in accordance with LLUMC-Murrieta's established Professional Practice Model (Duffy's Quality Caring Theory) to achieve proficient individualized physical, psychosocial and spiritual wellness and provide compassionate bereavement support as needed. Meets qualifications, licensure, certifications and competencies as defined in the department-specific Plan for Providing Care. Functions in a skills mix environment and effectively supervises and delegates tasks to a team of licensed and unlicensed staff in accordance with level of competency. Skillfully resolves disagreements and conflicts among team members as needed. Applies theoretical concepts to clinical practice and exhibits self-motivation to continually expand knowledge base and clinical skills with a focus in area of specialty and patient population served. Inspires and adopts the transformation of evidence into bed-side practice to optimize patient outcomes. Functions within the expectations of an accomplished professional nurse and represents nursing as an empowered profession readily embracing new knowledge, innovations and improvements. Provides a positive influence to facilitate change and optimize patient satisfaction and outcomes. Engages in opportunities to directly or indirectly influence decision-making for bedside clinical practice by supporting and participating in councils, committees, task forces and staff meetings. Exhibits refined interpersonal skills that portray professionalism and maximize excellence in customer service and safe patient care. Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. Performs other duties as needed.</p> <p>Education and Experience: Associate of Science Degree in nursing required. If hired after January 1, 2021, enrollment in a Bachelor of Science Degree nursing program within six months of hire with expected completion two and a half years after enrollment required. Minimum of two years' experience required. External hires into the CN-C position are granted one year to meet CN-C criteria outlined in the Clinical Nurse Ladder handbook. CN-C employees are eligible to be promoted into the CN-D classification when criteria outlined in the Clinical Nurse Ladder handbook and job specifications outlined in CN-D job description are met.</p> <p>Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrates advanced competencies in clinical nursing. Ability to apply theoretical concepts to clinical practice and continually expands knowledge base and clinical skills with a focus in area of specialty and population served. Basic knowledge of healthcare regulations and accreditation required. Exhibits professional behavior at all times and works calmly and responds courteously when under pressure. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued through the American Heart Association required. Additional Certification is required if assigned to the following cost centers/departments: 30001 MH: Critical Care ICU; Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required. Completion of Basic Arrhythmia Recognition and Treatment course or equivalent required within 6 months of hire. 30503 MH: Medical Acute; Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required. Completion of Basic Arrhythmia Recognition and Treatment course or equivalent required within 6 months of hire. 30505 MH: PCU/Cardiac Telemetry; Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required. Completion of Basic Arrhythmia Recognition and Treatment course or equivalent required within 6 months of hire. 30502 MH: General Surgery; Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required. Completion of Basic Arrhythmia Recognition and Treatment course or equivalent required within 6 months of hire. 30901 MH: Postpartum; Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications issued by the American Heart Association required. Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood pressure, Lab work, Emotional support (S.T.A.B.L.E.) certification required within 6 months of hire. 30314 MH: Neonatal ICU; Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications issued by the American Heart Association required.
