The College is a community of students, teachers, staff, and alumni bound together in mutual support, respect, and dedication to the Mission.</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>The History and Philosophy Department at SUNY Old Westbury regularly seeks to hire adjunct instructors to teach courses as needed in the department. The History and Philosophy Department offers a B.A. degree in History with a liberal arts track and a social studies track and a B.A degree in Philosophy and Religion. Philosophy courses are required for the Philosophy and Religion major and serve the general education curriculum.</p> <p>Candidates for adjunct positions should have a record of high-quality teaching.</p> <p>We are seeking applicants who can teach the following types of introductory Philosophy courses:</p> <ul> <li>Introduction to Philosophy </li><li>Greco-Roman Philosophy </li><li>Logic </li><li>Ethics </li></ul> <p>If you are qualified to teach philosophy courses in addition to the courses mentioned above, please indicate this in your letter of application. If you have experience with non-traditional formats (online or hybrid), please also indicate this in your letter.</p> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>Required Qualifications:</p> <p>A minimum of a Master's degree in Philosophy.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Ph.D. or ABD in Philosophy or closely related field. </li><li>Previous teaching experience at the college level. </li><li>Experience teaching a culturally diverse student population. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>The successful candidate must be authorized to work in the United States.</p> <p>The State University of New York at Old Westbury is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
