<p>Kansas City Public Schools</p> <p>Technology Support Specialist</p> <p>Job Title Code: 01862</p> <p>Salary Grade: J60 $21.00 - $32.23</p> <p>Department: Department of Technology</p> <p>Reports To: Lead Technology Support Specialist/EdTech Operations Specialist/Technology Manager (Dependent on Team)</p> <p>FLSA Status: Non-Exempt</p> <p>Date Prepared: October 1, 2019</p> <p>Position Summary:</p> <p>The Technology Support Specialist serves as a primary point of contact for all Tier I technology support-related issues for the Department of Technology at Kansas City Public Schools. This role provides exceptional customer service and technical assistance to students and staff on hardware, software, and web-based resources, ensuring the efficient operation and effective use of district technology.</p> <p>What You'll Be Doing: (Responsibilities)</p> <ul> <li>Technical Support & Troubleshooting: </li><li>Provide exceptional customer service in a proactive manner for all students and staff. </li><li>Effectively diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions of hardware devices, including laptops, desktops, printers, scanners, barcode readers, digital cameras, and other technology tools. </li><li>Deploy and maintain operating systems and software titles for each building via disk imaging and other automated deployment technologies. </li><li>Research and implement preventative maintenance procedures for district technology devices. </li><li>Assist users with questions about employee websites and other technology resources. </li><li>Educate users on proper Technology work order procedures for technology incidents and requests. </li><li>User Training & Education: </li><li>Train and assist users in the proper use of district technology resources. </li><li>Provide technology orientation to new teachers and support staff. </li><li>Collaboration & Project Support: </li><li>Communicate effectively with staff and students regarding technology information. </li><li>Collaborate and team with the Digital Learning Team in supporting the effective use of technology. </li><li>Lead and/or participate in special technology projects as required. </li><li>Inventory & Logistics: </li><li>Conduct and maintain inventory on technology equipment. </li><li>Travel within the district when required to provide services and deliver or pick up technology equipment. </li></ul> <p>Supervisory Responsibilities: No</p> <p>To Be Successful at This Job, You'll Need To: (Qualifications)</p> <ul> <li>Excellent software skills. </li><li>Knowledge and experience with hardware warranty procedures. </li><li>Excellent knowledge of desktops, laptops, and other common peripheral devices. </li><li>Excellent organizational skills. </li><li>Effective interpersonal and communication skills. </li><li>Strong ability to educate users on new software, hardware, policies, and procedures. </li><li>Ability to lift up to 40lbs up to a height of 4 feet occasionally. </li><li>Self-motivated. </li><li>Current driver's license and access to a personal vehicle for travel in the district (mileage reimbursement provided). </li></ul> <p>In Order to #LevelUp in This Role, You'll Need: (Preferred Qualifications)</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of ITIL processes and Service Management tools. </li><li>Experience with large-scale computer deployments. </li><li>Certification in current Microsoft Windows version. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands: This job requires that the employee be able to: sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, use hands, fingers, and reach with hands and fingers; bend, stoop, and lift objects of at least ten pounds. The job requires the employee occasionally to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Visual ability requires mono and color vision, close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.</p> <p>Terms of Employment: Length of work year: 12 months, 7.5 hours per day/ 5 days per week; 260 work days.</p> <p>Benefits: Health and Dental Insurance are provided.
