<p>JOB SPECIFICATION</p> <p>DESIGNER B</p> <p>Job No. 1712</p> <p>Pay Group 22</p> <p><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong>__</strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></p> <p>DUTIES: Under general supervision in the Engineering Department, to do designing of minor and major construction projects of all types, to prepare specifications and estimates and to prepare and maintain related diagrams, maps and records, doing drafting work as required, and perform such duties as:</p> <ul> <li>Prepare architectural studies of minor projects. </li><li>Prepare general layout and final construction drawings for projects of all types. </li><li>Develop the design of major and minor component parts of electrical, mechanical or structural projects. </li><li>Prepare assembly and detail designs of electrical, mechanical and structural projects, designing dimensional details to avoid interference with equipment and structural members. </li><li>Make engineering calculations as required to determine the adequacy of design. </li><li>Calculate, plot, compute closure and adjust field survey data; compute areas and prepare land maps and records. </li><li>Prepare bills of material, conduit and cable schedules for major and minor parts of construction projects. </li><li>Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, specifications, budget request, authority for expenditure papers, etc. </li><li>Make engineering studies, analyses, reports and calculations of moderate difficulty relating to the design, protection, operation and maintenance of projects and assist in more complex work of this nature. </li><li>Make field inspections of construction and special tests as required. </li><li>Guide and check the work of Drafting Technicians, Designers of lower classification. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Education in applicable engineering subjects. </li><li>Training and working knowledge of CAD systems </li><li>Five years' experience, including two years in suitable lower grade design work; (Part college work will be given credit, as appropriate, toward the required experience time.) </li><li>Detailed knowledge of materials and equipment used in construction. </li><li>Knowledge of design fundamentals and required mathematics. </li><li>Knowledge of Company accounting, budget and property record procedures, as applicable. </li><li>Ability to work with and guide the work of others. </li></ul> <p>Pay: $51.82/hr per the CBA</p> <p>Effective Date: May 18, 1952</p> <p>Revised:</p> <p>December 5, 1972</p> <p>February 4, 1976</p> <p>June 1, 2012</p>
