<p>Shared Services: Research Safety and Animal- (Full-Time, Day Shift) -</p> <p>Job Summary: The Research Animal Welfare Administrator maintains the administrative operation of IACUC (Institutional Animal Care and Use), IBC (Institutional Biosafety Committee), ISCROC (Institutional Stem Cell Research Oversight Committee) and the protocol submission process, including pre-review of all submitted protocols prior to IACUC/IBC/ISCROC member review and approval. Serves as a primary point of contact for researchers during the IACUC/IBC/ISCROC review process. Communicates with investigators, and committee chairs on submissions and requirements. Maintains the infoEd and Mosaic databases to assure accuracy and serves as a liaison between infoEd and Mosaic Vivarium to ensure the approved number of animals is recorded properly. Performs other duties as needed.</p> <p>Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Science, Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine or related field required. Experience may be accepted in lieu of degree. Management of animal care and use programs in a University setting experience preferred. AAALAC accreditation process experience preferred.</p> <p>Knowledge and Skills: Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; collaborate and accept direction. Able to think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position. Effective management and interpersonal skills. Ability to mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach. Ability to assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities and monitor and evaluate results. Ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team. Ability to promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality. Knowledge of ethical principles, federal regulations, agency guidelines, and nationally accepted standards for animal research; as well as other agency-specific requirements and familiarity with typical University contracts and agreements relating to the IACUC/IBC, and ISCROC.</p> <p>Licensures and Certifications: Certification for Professional IACUC Administrator (CPIA) and Certified Professional Biosafety Compliance Administrator (CPBCA) must be obtained within one year of eligibility.</p>
