<p>Job Title: Electrical Estimator</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>A national consulting firm is seeking an Electrical Estimator to join its MEP Cost Management team. This role supports large, high-impact construction programs across multiple market sectors and is ideal for an estimating professional with strong conceptual and early-phase experience in electrical scopes. The position offers remote flexibility within the United States, with a preference for candidates who can collaborate with regional offices and project teams as needed. The successful candidate will engage early in project development, help shape budgets, influence cost decisions, and guide clients through complex scopes and evolving designs while delivering accurate, timely, and insightful cost advice.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Lead conceptual, schematic, and detailed cost estimates for electrical scopes across multiple project phases. </li><li>Support budget development, cost planning, feasibility studies, and value engineering activities for large, complex construction projects. </li><li>Perform quality assurance and quality control reviews on estimates, and manage workload planning and task allocation for estimating deliverables. </li><li>Reconcile change orders, invoices, and cost impacts in collaboration with general contractors, subcontractors, and third parties. </li><li>Provide post-contract cost support, including bid analysis, change management, and evaluation of cost impacts. </li><li>Participate in risk and value management evaluations to identify opportunities for cost savings and risk mitigation. </li><li>Mentor and support estimators and estimating technicians, strengthening their technical and procedural knowledge. </li><li>Develop and maintain strong client relationships through clear communication, reliable cost guidance, and responsive service. </li><li>Prepare client-facing reports, milestone estimates, and executive-ready summaries that clearly communicate cost drivers and recommendations. </li><li>Engage with internal stakeholders, project controls teams, and leadership to ensure alignment on budgets, assumptions, and project objectives. </li><li>Participate in peer reviews and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance estimating processes, tools, and standards. </li><li>Stay informed on local market conditions, construction trends, and industry best practices to ensure estimates reflect current conditions. </li><li>Apply quantity surveying and cost consulting practices to support project budgets and commercial construction decision-making. </li><li>Contribute to project management and construction management efforts by providing accurate and timely cost information throughout the project lifecycle. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>Minimum 5+ years of experience in electrical estimating or cost management. </li><li>Strong background in conceptual estimating and early project planning for large, complex construction projects. </li><li>Deep technical understanding of electrical or mechanical scopes, systems, and construction practices. </li><li>Proven experience supporting large, complex construction programs across multiple market sectors. </li><li>Ability to read and interpret construction schedules, drawings, and specifications. </li><li>Advanced proficiency with cost estimating methods, tools, and industry-standard practices. </li><li>Strong Microsoft Excel skills and comfort with modern estimating software. </li><li>Experience working as an estimator or cost consultant in MEP or process-related construction environments. </li><li>Ability to analyze incomplete or evolving design information and provide clear, defensible cost guidance. </li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare client-facing reports and executive summaries. </li><li>Ability to perform at a high level in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while managing multiple priorities. </li><li>Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all estimating and cost management activities. </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience working within a national or regional cost consulting, project controls, or project management environment. </li><li>Experience in commercial construction, MEP systems, and process-related facilities. </li><li>Familiarity with quantity surveying practices and principles. </li><li>Experience contributing to project budgets, cost planning, and value engineering initiatives. </li><li>Exposure to construction management and project management workflows. </li><li>Comfort collaborating with distributed teams and regional offices in a remote or hybrid setting. </li><li>Interest in continuous learning and professional development, including use of ongoing education platforms. </li><li>Ability to build long-term client relationships and support repeat business through reliable cost advice. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>This position is fully remote within the United States and aligned to a regional team structure. The role promotes a collaborative, professional environment where cost consultants, project controls specialists, and project managers work together to deliver complex, high-impact projects across multiple sectors. The position is salaried with a standard 40-hour workweek and an emphasis on work-life balance.
