<p>JOB TITLE: Supervisor of Teaching and Learning - Curriculum</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Director of Teaching and Learning</p> <p>LOCATION: Worcester Public Schools, Worcester, Massachusetts</p> <p>POSITION PURPOSE:</p> <p>The Supervisor of Teaching and Learning provides strategic direction and administrative oversight to ensure the effective implementation and continuous improvement of curriculum across all grade levels, with a specific focus on meeting the needs of all learners. The Supervisor will embody the Worcester Public Schools Vision of a Learner in all aspects of their work. The Supervisor of Teaching and Learning will supervise and lead the district Curriculum Specialists and will collaborate closely with Teaching and Learning leaders and staff including: Principals, Department Heads, Focused Instructional Coaches, and Teachers to maintain high-quality professionalism and ensure that the district strategic plan is at the heart of all work. The Supervisor will support the professional development of department heads, curriculum coaches, teachers, and other personnel in the content area. The Supervisor will coordinate with stakeholders to align curriculum frameworks, instructional materials, and assessment practices to promote equitable access and academic achievement for all students in all grades. The Supervisor will support principals in evaluating content area department heads and teachers.</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:</p> <ul> <li>A minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching in the specific content area </li><li>Massachusetts DESE license in Supervisor/Director or School Administrator </li><li>Massachusetts DESE license in the specific content area </li><li>Masters Degree in Education and/or Educational Leadership </li><li>Experience working with students with disabilities and students learning English </li><li>Demonstrated experience in curriculum development </li><li>Demonstrated experience in providing professional development for teachers </li><li>Demonstrated successful experience in working with adults and understanding of adult learning theory </li><li>Demonstrated knowledge, experience, and engagement in providing leadership around improvement </li><li>Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team setting with other adults </li><li>Demonstrated ability to build effective teams </li><li>Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly in oral and written form </li><li>Demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver oral presentations </li><li>Demonstrated ability to analyze data accurately and adopt an effective course of action </li><li>Demonstrated ability to meet schedules and timelines </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Experience as an instructional coach, school administrator, or other related position </li></ul> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Responsible for providing support, supervision, assistance and consultation to principals, content area department heads, and other content area personnel in the performance of their professional responsibilities. This includes formal evaluation of teaching staff in accordance with DESE regulations and the WPS evaluation processes </li><li>Responsible for providing support and consultation to school-based personnel in the performance of their job responsibilities as they relate to Vision of a Learner and content area curriculum. </li><li>Under direction of the Coordinator of Curriculum and Professional Learning, responsible for the development and implementation of departmental procedures and protocols to enhance the consistent delivery of high quality instruction for all students in an integrated manner that builds upon student, school department, family and community resources </li><li>Responsible for supporting the orientation of new teachers, supervision and ongoing development that embodies Vision of a Learner to provide high quality, future-ready education for all students </li><li>Responsible for ongoing assessment of the content area curriculum and best practices, leading teams to modify curriculum, and provide timely communication regarding curriculum changes to the entire district </li><li>Responsible for developing, implementing, and supervising practices that enable the Worcester Public Schools to fulfill all requirements of local, state and federal mandates regarding Massachusetts Core requirements </li><li>Responsible for ensuring that appropriate documentation of professional learning hours is maintained </li><li>Responsible for compiling, summarizing, maintaining and submitting data for the purposes of state or local inquiries </li><li>Responsible for planning and implementing Staff Development programs for content area teachers and other staff across the Worcester Public Schools </li><li>Responsible for assigning elementary itinerant staff, as needed </li><li>Responsible for assisting principals and Human Resources in the recruitment and selection of personnel. </li><li>Responsible for other job-related duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>WORK YEAR:</p> <p>This is a Unit B, Group III, represented position. The work year is 180 pupil days plus fourteen (14) additional days to be determined by the district. The typical work day is 8:30-4:30 with a thirty (30) minute lunch. By mutual consent the hours of work may differ but shall always be an eight (8)hour work day including a 30 minute lunch.</p> <p>SALARY: Salary scale shown is based on the Unit B, Group III Salary Scale in the Base column with the potential to increase dependent on the highest level of education and years of Unit B experience.</p>
