No</p> <p>County Rockland</p> <p>Street Address Bear Mountain Garage</p> <p>14 WPA Way</p> <p>City Tomkins Cove</p> <p>StateNY</p> <p>Zip Code10986</p> <p>Duties Description As a Trades Generalist, duties include, but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Perform journey-level motor and heavy equipment repair with a secondary skill of welding. </li><li>Replacement of rusted or damaged body parts. </li><li>Perform metal fabrication, plasma cutting, and mechanical repairs, including engine and drive line repairs, brake and front-end work, electronic diagnosis, and emission repairs. </li><li>Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment as well as engine and component repair of construction equipment. </li><li>Must have a working knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the craft to which assigned and have the ability to train others. </li><li>Lay out work and diagnose problems; read and interpret plans, diagrams, and specifications. </li><li>Must be able to work independently and understand and carry out written and oral instructions. </li><li>May perform supervisory duties, ensuring that instructions have been followed and the quality of work is satisfactory. </li><li>Troubleshoot problems and make necessary repairs to complete assigned tasks. </li><li>Perform manual labor, including lifting, bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience* under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services.</p> <p>When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.</p> <ul> <li>If verifiable, we will accept and prorate part-time and volunteer experience. </li></ul> <p>Additional Comments OPERATING NEEDS:</p> <ul> <li>Must possess a valid Class B<em> Commercial Driver's License with airbrake and tanker endorsements that allows the candidate to legally operate commercial vehicles in New York State or obtain it during the probationary period and maintain it as a term and condition of employment.</em> </li><li>Must possess or obtain a New York State vehicle inspector's license during the probationary period and maintain it as a term and condition of employment. </li><li>May be required to work weekends, holidays and/or evening shifts. </li><li>Experience operating heavy equipment </li><li>Under the provisions of the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act (1991), this position has been designated Safety Sensitive. The incumbent is required to participate in pre-employment, random, and post-accident drug and alcohol testing. </li></ul> <p>Location Pay:</p> <p>The hiring rate will be the sum of the statutory hiring rate for CSEA Grade 12 ($50,425) and the Downstate Adjustment ($4,000).
