<p>Position Type:</p> <p>Administration/Director</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>7/15/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Central Office</p> <p>Date Available:</p> <p>ASAP</p> <p>Closing Date:</p> <p>Until Filled</p> <p>  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY</p> <p>July 14, 2025</p> <p>DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES</p> <p>General Statement of Responsibilities:</p> <p>The Director of Human Resources plans, directs and administers HR functions for the district including developing and monitoring HR procedures, following HR related federal and state statues; providing information and serving as a resource to others, achieving defined objectives by planning, evaluating, developing, implementing and maintaining services in compliance with established guidelines and serving as a member of the leadership team.</p> <p>Qualifications - Knowledge, Skill and Ability:</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree </li><li>A minimum of five years' experience in a human resource-oriented work environment in either the private or public sector (public sector experience preferred but no required) </li><li>Ability to navigate technological systems such as Microsoft Office, Frontiline, MUNIS and other support systems </li><li>Alternatives or additions to the above qualifications as determined to be appropriate and acceptable by the Board of Education </li></ul> <p>Essential Performance Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Plans, directs, and coordinates the recruitment and hiring procedures for all new personnel </li><li>Plans and directs HR functions for the school district </li><li>Develops and implements HR related programs, policies and procedures </li><li>Supervises HR personnel and day-to-day operations </li><li>Serves on district negotiation team for all collective bargaining groups and non-union employees as directed by the Superintendent of Schools. </li><li>Formulates proposals, negotiates, administers and interprets employment contracts, agreements and policies as directed by the Superintendent of Schools. </li><li>Coordinates the administration of all employee benefit programs by supervising the Employee Benefits Clerk </li><li>Communicates all pertinent personnel information to the all departments and to the district when appropriate </li><li>Investigates grievances and/or complaints from employees for the purpose of reaching resolutions that provide a healthy work environment </li><li>Investigates formal parent complaints about employees </li><li>Monitors unemployment compensation claims and appeals process </li><li>Coordinates salary administration in keeping with contracts, and communicates that information to the payroll office </li><li>Serves as the hearing officer for grievances involving all union employees when appropriate </li><li>Serves as the administrative liaison on the Board's Personnel Committee </li><li>Coordinates certified assignments, transfers and requests for staff changes in coordination with the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning </li><li>Develops, maintains and updates job descriptions as required </li><li>Attends public meetings of the Board of Education and executive sessions as requested by the Superintendent </li><li>Attends meetings of the Board of Education's Personnel and Policy Committee </li><li>Implements Board of Education policies, including all current applicable state and federal regulations </li><li>Upholds and promotes goals and objectives of the Board of Education and the schools </li><li>Participates in other relevant district committees as determined by the Superintendent </li><li>Demonstrates an on-going interest and participation in educational concerns and professional growth </li><li>Stays current on Board of Education policies and regulations, and State or Federal policies, regulations and statutes regarding human resource matters </li><li>Engages in professional learning </li><li>Maintains confidentiality regarding employees' personal information </li><li>Stays current with federal and state mandates and regulations </li><li>Manages human resource compliance issues (e.g., Title IX) </li></ul> <p>All applicants must apply only on www.applitrack.com/hamden/onlineapp.</p> <p>Please do not send any additional information to the Human Resources Department or the Superintendent's Office unless specifically asked to do so.</p> <p>Closing date for applications: July 22, 2025</p> <p>Anticipated Start Date: August 7, 2025</p> <p>Salary:</p> <p>Commensurate with experience, training, educational background, certifications and other attributes.
