From the moment you're hired, to the day you retire, you're a part of our Bassett Mechanical Team.</p> <p>Position Purpose</p> <p>To supervise, coordinate and support the Tool Room activities for Bassett Mechanical in a strategic, cost-effective and timely manner that is aligned with the goals of Metal Fabrication, Construction, and Service divisions within a Lean and continuous improvement driven culture.</p> <p>Position Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, internal customers, and co-workers. </li><li>Responsible for the management of tools, safety equipment, rentals, commodities, and inventories maintained in the Tool Room. </li><li>Administer and monitor preventative, corrective, and inspection maintenance for tool room equipment, maintain accurate records of repairs, replacements and warranty items. </li><li>Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day resolution of tool request needs. </li><li>Manage ongoing tool and equipment purchases and obtain quotations for capital tool requests. </li><li>Responsible for maintaining accurate tool lists and equipment in databases. </li><li>Responsible for tool tracking and accurate charge outs to jobs. </li><li>Maintain accurate inventory levels of tools and consumables. </li><li>Leverage manufacturer and vendor rebates, credits and other programs. </li><li>Participates in the Tool Room annual budget process and manages costs within budget guidelines. </li><li>Optimize systems and reports to best serve customers. </li><li>Partner with Safety Department for overseeing all safety equipment housed within the tool room ensuring that any required inspections are completed and documented. </li><li>Responsible for training, developing, and managing performance of direct reports; providing prompt and objective coaching and coordinating, planning, and assigning work to staff. </li><li>Create, and maintain SOP's and work instructions for the key Tool Room functions. </li><li>Support and maintain a safe and Lean work environment. </li><li>All other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Summary of Skills, Knowledge and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Relevant work experience preferred. </li><li>Availability beyond the normal business work schedules and ability to respond 24/7/365 </li><li>Experience in giving direction to skilled, semi-skilled, and non-skilled trade personnel in an union and/or non-union environment </li><li>Self-motivated, strong personal accountability, and even-tempered. </li><li>Proven experience in successfully managing and executing multiple projects, contracts, negotiations and maintaining internal/external business relationships </li><li>Ability to thrive in a Lean and continuous improvement driven environment </li><li>Good computer skills using Microsoft suite and Viewpoint </li><li>Ability to write reports and business communication </li></ul> <p>Direct Reports</p> <ul> <li>Tool Room Attendants </li><li>Construction Tool Room Coordinator </li><li>Co-op/Youth Apprenticeship Students </li></ul>
