<p>Job Details</p> <p>Christiana Care Health System, a Magnet health care organization with over 1,100 beds between its two hospitals (Christiana Hospital & Wilmington Hospital) and the only Level I trauma service on the East Coast corridor between Philadelphia & Baltimore, has been honored repeatedly as "One of America's Best Hospitals" by U.S. News & World Report.</p> <p>Highlights</p> <ul> <li>Twice Recognized as Magnet Status Hospital. </li><li>Growth Opportunities defined by our Clinical Ladder. </li><li>Generous PTO, Competitive pay with shift differentials & Robust Benefits Package. </li></ul> <p>We are currently recruiting for a full-time experienced Surgical Technologist to work in our Operating Room at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE.</p> <p>PRIMARY FUNCTION</p> <p>To assist the surgical team, under the direction of a professional nurse, in providing skilled care for any patient undergoing surgical procedures.</p> <p>PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrates proficient clinical skills in the scrub role. </li><li>Demonstrates ability to scrub on a wide range of procedures. </li><li>Demonstrates solid knowledge, skills, and abilities related to the handling of instruments/equipment in the OR and aseptic technique. </li><li>Demonstrates openness to learning scrub techniques for new procedures and new instrumentation/equipment and receiving feedback concerning clinical skills. </li><li>Actively works with leadership to identify own learning needs and seeks opportunities to meet these learning needs. </li><li>Provides ongoing feedback to Perioperative Practice Coordinator (PPC) concerning preference cards and tray contents. </li><li>Demonstrates an ongoing concern for safety by adhering to established safety rules and practices </li><li>Responds appropriately to crisis situations as outlined in unit-specific standards, initiates interventions within scope of responsibility and notifies circulating RN of all issues. </li><li>Participates in the planning of care appropriate to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, including knowledge of growth and development </li><li>Functions as an effective team member, supporting the concept of team training. </li><li>Actively participates in unit activities </li><li>Communicates effectively with patients, families, employees, and physicians, both verbally and in writing. </li><li>Reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors. </li><li>Performs other related duties as required. </li></ul> <p>Schedule:</p> <ul> <li>3 Weekends per 4-week schedule. No Call.
