The proximity to major metropolitan centers, Boston, New York City, and Montreal all within easy driving distance, contributes to the Berkshires' very special blend of rural and urban.</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>Reporting to the Vice President of Academic Affairs, the Dean of Science and Business is responsible for the leadership, planning, and administration of curricular and personnel activities within the Science and Business Division. These responsibilities include curriculum and master schedule development; budget development and management; administration of grants; implementation of collective bargaining agreements; and other similar duties necessary to the functioning of the division. The Science and Business Division includes four departments (Business & Computer Information Systems, Life Sciences, Math, and Physical Sciences) that represent a variety of disciplines and academic programs. We are seeking a creative, collaborative, and student-centered leader dedicated to student success and fostering high impact teaching and learning.</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Supports student-centered educational experiences in curriculum development, divisional initiatives, and budget management. </li><li>Works with the Academic Affairs Leadership Team to support the mission and vision of Academic Affairs. </li><li>Collaborates with the Academic Leadership Team to encourage and support an atmosphere of collegial learning focused on equitable student outcomes and inclusive relationships. </li><li>Works with the President's Cabinet to support the implementation of the Strategic Plan and other college-wide initiatives. </li><li>Ensures academic planning is centered on serving students in ways that lead to increased retention, graduation, and employment opportunities. </li><li>Provides administration, leadership, and supervision, to ensure the on-going quality of programs and curricular offerings through program reviews and assessment initiatives. </li><li>Works with department chairs, divisional staff, and other deans to use data in the development of the master course schedule that offers accessible, high-quality instruction. </li><li>Participates in recruitment and hiring of faculty members and ensures appropriate orientation to their areas of responsibility. </li><li>Supervises and evaluates full-time faculty members, full and part-time staff members, and adjunct faculty members. </li><li>Represents the division in college-wide committees and in the greater community and Commonwealth in meetings, associations, etc. </li><li>Keeps abreast of significant events, methodologies, and techniques in areas of responsibility. </li><li>Collaborates with Student Affairs and Enrollment Management staff to support student success and retention, transfer partnerships, student recruitment and orientation, and Early College initiatives. </li><li>Adhere to the administration guidelines and deadlines of collective bargaining agreements. </li><li>Collaborates with non-credit and workforce development at the College to develop and foster pathways from non-credit to credit-bearing curriculum in the division. </li><li>Performs other similar duties as responsibilities necessitate or as requested by supervisor. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>A master's degree or higher in any field is required, with preference for one of the disciplines represented in the Science and Business Division. Two to four years of administrative experience in education and / or academic coordination. Higher education teaching experience; preferred community college teaching experience. Experience using evidence to support teaching and learning practices and commitment to student-centered approach to education is expected. The candidate will demonstrate an understanding of academic programming, assessment, and curriculum development. Commitment to promoting an interdisciplinary work environment is appreciated. Interest in developing and supporting recruitment and success strategies for non-traditional student audiences will be valued.</p> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>Review of applications will begin April 1, 2025, and will continue until the position is filled. First-round interviews will be conducted via videoconferencing approximately the 3rd week of April.
