The mission of the Division of Education is to prepare every offender through the advancement of academic achievement and work ready skills for successful reentry.</p> <p>As education corrections professionals, it is our job to assist in the rehabilitation and reentry of offenders by working within the Department, with community partners, and state agencies to increase community safety and reduce recidivism rates. The administrative specialist will provide support to the Little Sandy Correctional Complex Education Center in planning, facilitating, and coordinating educational opportunities within the correctional environment.</p> <p>Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:</p> <ul> <li>Serves as administrative liaison and point of contact for the Education Center at the institution for other programming, facility leadership, and for all school related activities. </li><li>Responsible for acting on behalf of the Corrections Regional Education Administrator (CREA) when he/she is away from the school. </li><li>Plans & organizes all administrative duties of the office (i.e., record keeping, inmate state pay, meeting minutes, maintain incentives, notification memos, etc.). </li><li>Utilizes Kentucky Offender Management System (KOMS), Technical Education Database System (TEDS), SharePoint in addition to all other office equipment and computer software applications in order to process and account for inmate student attendance and program enrollment criteria, including educational history verification for inmates. </li><li>Responsible for school purchases and inventory including teaching supplies and vocational program machinery maintenance records. </li><li>Maintains credentials with Pearson VUE as a Certified Test Administrator in order to proctor student GED Exams and Ready-Test Exams in partnership with KY Adult Education; schedule, account for, proctor and administer GED Exams to inmates while maintaining records in GED Manager. </li><li>Develop & implement processes to assist in the complex task of GED Accreditation for institutions. </li><li>Gather, compile, maintain, and coordinate various data, data analysis, reporting as required by the institution and Central Office including grant reports, academic, vocational, and other reporting requirements. </li><li>Maintains certification in the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) administration. </li><li>Administers the TABE testing program to include registration, testing sessions, scoring, dissemination of results, and recording in KOMS. </li><li>Provide security daily by overseeing building janitors and making security rounds. </li><li>Enter attendance for building janitors in KOMS. </li><li>Prepare supply orders for building custodial needs. </li><li>Submit work orders for repairs needed in the Education Center. </li><li>Performs other assigned duties as required. </li></ul> <p>The ideal candidate should possess strong verbal and written communication skills, organization skills, technology skills, and have displayed the ability to complete work related activities in a professional manner. The ideal candidate should be able to multitask with the ability to plan, pay attention to detail, think critically and analyze data to forecast positive outcomes. This candidate should possess the ability to work well in a team-oriented environment and adapt to the ever-changing needs of the Department, Division, and facility.</p> <p>Minimum Requirements</p> <p>EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.</p> <p>EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Three years of professional, administrative, or business experience.</p> <p>Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.</p> <p>Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.</p> <p>SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE</p> <p>Working Conditions</p> <p>Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting.</p> <p>Probationary Period</p> <p>This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.</p> <p>If you have questions about this advertisement, please contact Nancy Godbey at Nancy.Godbey@ky.gov</p> <p>An Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/D</p>
