This public safety position is tasked with keeping the agency complainant with State statutes, federal laws and regulations, and will work out of our Connecticut Valley Hospital facility in Middletown. As a result of Legislation, the DMHAS Police Department has been designated as the only Police Department in the State with full access to the PATS and MHAR system. </li><li>Assist with the State of CT required statutorily Police Accountability and Accreditation. Tracking compliance with drug testing, firearms training, phycological evaluations, recertification, special police powers and training. </li><li>Administer compliance programs and regulations for staff, as well as Police Officer Standards and Training Council (POSTC) requirements. </li><li>Assist with managing and monitoring compliance to Axon police body and dashboard video camera system. Manage users, maintain hardware, software, and videos. Schedule and develop department training required yearly per POSTC. </li><li>Schedule all mandated and required training to minimize overtime with the least amount of impact of facility operations. </li><li>Routinely work with the Office of Attorney General to defend the agency against civil allegations, lawsuits and claims. </li><li>Promptly investigate criminal allegations involving clients, staff and public, as well as coordinate efforts with the Judicial System. </li><li>Assist and support the (5) DMHAS Police Units statewide. </li><li>Manage and organize department records and files that are subject to POSTC audits. </li><li>Security audits and assessments for facilities agency wide. </li><li>Oversee the departments Quartermaster for, supplies, equipment and uniforms. Ensure all statutorily required equipment is used and in proper working order. </li><li>Assist with the Police Department's Fleet operations. (Connecticut General Statutes 29-18 and/or 10a-142). </li><li>Incumbents in this class must possess and maintain certification as a law enforcement officer in the State of Connecticut pursuant to Section 7-294-a-e of the Connecticut General Statutes and the regulations promulgated by the Connecticut Police Officer Standards and Training Council.
