<p>Founded in 1961, Sandy Spring Friends School is a progressive, coed, academically-rigorous day and boarding school serving students from age three through 12th grade. The campus is located on 140 acres in the historic Sandy Spring area of Montgomery County, Maryland, and the School is approved by the Maryland State Board of Education and accredited by the Association of Independent Maryland Schools.</p> <p>Our school's culture, rooted in the idea that collaboration engenders achievement, can be traced to our Quaker heritage and abiding belief in the Quaker values of simplicity, equality, integrity, stewardship of the environment, and peaceful resolution of conflict.</p> <p>Summary: As a part of the Campus Health Care Team, the Health Center Assistant assists in the daily operations of the School's Health Center, providing healthcare services to students during the school year as well as campers during the summer months. Working under the supervision of the RN Director of Health, the Health Center Assistant delivers basic nursing care, including first aid, medication administration, and management of routine and acute student health needs. This position ensures both the physical and emotional well-being of our student population, delivering the highest standard of care to our students.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <p>Under the guidance of the supervising RN:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Follow standards for school and camp health staff set forth by Sandy Spring Friends School, Montgomery County, Maryland State, and the American Camp Association</p> </li><li> <p>Organize, maintain, and utilize Health Center resources appropriately</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with ensuring student/camper health documentation is current and on file</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with the intake, storage, and inventory of medications</p> </li><li> <p>Administer medications under guidance of delegating nurse (with CMT certification)</p> </li><li> <p>Provide basic nursing care in accordance with established protocols</p> </li><li> <p>Utilize the electronic health record (EHR) to document each encounter</p> </li><li> <p>Respond to, manage, and record emergency incidents on campus</p> </li><li> <p>Manage notification of parents and relevant staff; follow-up as appropriate</p> </li><li> <p>Support annual health-related events and staff trainings</p> </li><li> <p>Check and maintain campus emergency supplies (AEDs, EpiPens)</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with management and maintenance of employee health forms</p> </li><li> <p>Facilitate comprehensive care of health needs for homestay students</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure the confidentiality of protected health information under HIPAA and FERPA</p> </li></ul> <p>Qualifications and Requirements:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Medical Assistant (MA) with certification OR Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B) preferred</p> </li><li> <p>Current American Heart Association-approved CPR/First Aid (Adult and Child) or BLS certification</p> </li><li> <p>Experience in first aid and emergency management</p> </li><li> <p>Desire to work with children and young adults</p> </li><li> <p>Must be vaccinated against COVID-19</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of August Schools and Veracross platforms a plus</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to obtain Maryland Certified Medication Technician (CMT) License within 90 days of hire (paid by employer)</p> </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements: Daily desk work includes significant amounts of telephone and computer time as well as mobility around the entire campus. This includes frequent walking inside and outside, maneuvering stairs as a part of daily routines. Bending and squatting as required to participate in activities; lifting/carrying boxes up to 25 pounds; and the ability to maneuver as necessary within a regular classroom and office setting.</p> <p>Please note that the School has a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy, which requires that all employees be vaccinated against COVID-19 and provide proof of vaccination.</p> <p>Salary: $42,000 - $52,000/yearly</p> <p>Summary of Benefits:</p> <p>At SSFS, we offer a competitive benefits package designed to support your health, well-being, and professional growth.
