<p>Job Title</p> <p>Flight Training Manager I or II</p> <p>Department</p> <p>Flight Training Program</p> <p>Salary</p> <p>$71,227 - $90,103; commensurate with experience</p> <p>Job Summary/Basic Function</p> <p>The Flight Training Manager is responsible for the effective conduct of all University flight lab courses. Reporting to the Director of Aerospace - Airport Operations, this position directly supervises Assistant Flight Training Manager(s) and staff flight instructors in the administration of these courses. Serves as a liaison to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) related to flight training operations. Performs stage checks, end-of-course checks, flight instructor upgrades, and ground training for flights, as required. Develops, manages, and updates training course outlines. Teaches Flight Instructor Fundamentals course; assignment to teach this course may vary by term based on departmental needs. Coordinates with the Director of Aerospace - Airport Operations to determine and forecast the current and future needs of the Flight Training Program. Performs administrative tasks related to flight training operations and other duties as assigned.</p> <p>Required Education</p> <p>Bachelor's degree in Aviation, Aerospace, or related field.</p> <p>Bachelor's degree in a non-aviation field with a strong background in flight training may be considered.</p> <p>Required Related Experience</p> <p>Flight Training Manager I:</p> <ul> <li>Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in providing flight instruction to primary and advanced students, with at least one (1) year of management experience in flight training </li><li>Meet or exceed the minimum requirements of 14 CFR §141.36(b)-(d) </li></ul> <p>Flight Training Manager II:</p> <ul> <li>Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in providing flight instruction to primary and advanced students, with at least two (2) years of management experience in flight training </li><li>Meet or exceed the minimum requirements of 14 CFR §141.35(b)-(d) </li></ul> <p>Required License/Registration/Certification</p> <ul> <li>FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate (ASEL, AMEL, Instrument-Airplane) </li><li>FAA Flight Instructor Certificate (ASE, AME, Instrument-Airplane) </li><li>Current 2nd Class FAA Medical Certificate </li></ul> <p>Desirable Related Experience</p> <ul> <li>Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in a Part 141 flight training environment </li><li>At least 50 hours PIC in Diamond DA40 aircraft </li></ul> <p>Desirable License/Registration/Certification</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in aviation-related field </li><li>FAA Tailwheel Endorsement </li></ul> <p>Documents Needed to Apply</p> <p>Cover Letter & Resume Required</p> <p>MTSU offers a comprehensive benefits package, including but not limited to the following:</p> <ul> <li>Sick Leave </li><li>Vacation Leave for Administrative/Classified Staff/12-month Faculty </li><li>13 paid University holidays </li><li>Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance </li><li>Retirement plans </li><li>Optional 401K and 403B Deferred Compensation Plans </li><li>Educational benefits for the employee and their spouse and dependents </li></ul> <p>Click here for additional information.</p> <p>MTSU is an equal opportunity, affirmative action employer that values diversity in all its forms.
