<p>This position is for 19 hours per week</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>The RUSLR Operations Technician position performs a variety of daily skills which include</p> <p>cleaning stalls, corrals, and pens, feeding and medicating livestock, unloading hay,</p> <p>dragging/watering the indoor and outdoor arena, unlocking/locking the facility during weekend events and other various duties related to maintenance and safety of the CWC Ag/Equine Complex.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ol> <li>RUSLR Ag/Equine Complex </li></ol> <p>a. Must be comfortable operating equipment such as skid steer, tractor and water</p> <p>truck. This equipment will be used to clean livestock corrals and unload/move</p> <p>hay, shavings and various equipment at times.</p> <p>b. Assisting the Ag/Equine Complex Director of overseeing student stalls/corrals</p> <p>and ensuring students are maintaining cleanliness, neatness and personal tack is</p> <p>stored accordingly.</p> <p>c. Assisting the Ag/Equine Complex Director and full-time Operation</p> <p>Technicians in overseeing hay and shaving quantities used by</p> <p>students.</p> <p>d. Preparing the indoor and/or outdoor arenas for weekend events. This includes</p> <p>but is not limited to unlocking the facility, opening gates, connecting the sound</p> <p>system, bringing in livestock, dragging/watering the arenas etc.</p> <p>e. Will ensure students, spectators and competitors during events are following the</p> <p>Ag/Equine Complex rules and regulations.</p> <p>f. Will notify Operation Technicians if fences, sprinkler systems, automatic waterers</p> <p>etc. are not operating correctly.</p> <p>g. Assist with mowing, pest control, spraying equipment, applying fertilizers, snow</p> <p>removal including sidewalks, parking lots etc.</p> <p>Position Specifications</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ol> <li>Education </li></ol> <p>a. High School Diploma or Equivalent</p> <ol start="2"> <li>Experience </li></ol> <p>a. Two (2) years or more experience operating equipment and working hands-on</p> <p>with livestock.</p> <ol start="3"> <li>Licenses/Certifications </li></ol> <p>a. Must possess a valid driver's license</p> <p>b. Will be required to become an OSHA-certified forklift operator</p> <ol start="4"> <li>Equivalency Statement </li></ol> <p>a. Equivalent combinations of education and experience from which comparable</p> <p>knowledge and abilities can be acquired may be considered on a case-by-case</p> <p>basis.</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ol> <li>Knowledge of basic livestock care including but not limited to identifying illness/sickness, </li></ol> <p>giving medication appropriately, safely moving them to and from the arena etc.</p> <ol start="2"> <li>Skill in operating heavy equipment, including but not limited to skid steer, tractor, water </li></ol> <p>truck, mower, dump truck, forklift etc.</p> <ol start="3"> <li>Assist with performing seasonal duties including but not limited to watering system </li></ol> <p>management and winterizing equipment etc.</p> <ol start="4"> <li>Capable and comfortable with assisting CWC employees, overseeing weekend </li></ol> <p>events/clinics and implementation of rules and regulations with competitors and</p> <p>spectators to ensure efficiency and safety</p> <p>Level of Supervision</p> <p>This position operates under the direct supervision of the CWC Ag/Equine Complex Director.</p> <p>Working Environment</p> <p>Reasonable accommodation will be extended to otherwise qualified individuals with a legally recognized disability.</p> <ol> <li>Equipment Used </li></ol> <p>a. Operation of various types of equipment including but not limited to skid steer,</p> <p>tractor, water truck, forklift, mower etc.</p> <ol start="2"> <li>Physical Requirements </li></ol> <p>a. Various tasks in this position will result in a physically demanding environment.</p> <p>Physical activities will generally involve walking, standing, lifting (75+ lbs),</p> <p>reliable dexterity as well as mental application to perform and complete emotional</p> <p>stability, instructions, awareness and problem-solving.</p> <ol start="3"> <li>Environmental Conditions </li></ol> <p>a. There is a risk of heat stroke and/or frostbite. Temperatures can range from 105</p> <p>degrees F to below -50 degrees F. Tasks are often completed in very windy or</p> <p>dusty conditions. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is necessary, working</p> <p>conditions may include but are not limited to dusty conditions, and loud noise.</p> <p>repetitive physical stress, elevated heights etc. Daily hazards apply to this</p> <p>position including but are not limited to, direct contact with livestock, exposure</p> <p>to equipment fumes, blood-borne pathogens, livestock medications, diseases</p> <p>etc.</p>
