<p>Within the UI Stead Family Department of Pediatrics Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, this position works in collaboration with the attending physicians and will work within their scope of practice to provide excellent clinical care for patients with GI conditions. In accordance with scope of practice as outlined by applicable state law, regulations, institutional policies and practice agreements, the position will conduct comprehensive health history and physical assessments, establish medical diagnoses, order and evaluates diagnostic studies, and develop treatment plans. The position will practice in both inpatient and outpatient settings.</p> <p>Duties to include:</p> <ul> <li>Functions independently and/or as a member of an interdisciplinary team to plan, deliver, and evaluate care of patients. </li><li>Obtains and documents a health history; performs and documents complete, system-focused, or symptom-specific physical examination, assessment, and plan of care. </li><li>In collaboration, provides healthcare services for primary, acute, and complex care of patients and manages patient's overall care, initiates appropriate referrals and consultations, and identifying expected outcomes for diagnoses. </li><li>Orders, performs, interprets, and collects data using appropriate assessment techniques, relevant supporting diagnostic information and diagnostic procedures where indicated. </li><li>Forms differential diagnoses and treats acute and chronic conditions. </li><li>Prescribes therapeutic interventions both pharmacologic, non-pharmacologic and surgical/procedural, needed to achieve expected outcomes. </li><li>Utilizes evidence-based, approved practice protocols in planning and implementing care. </li><li>Provides specialty specific consultation services upon request and within specialty scope of practice. </li><li>Facilitates the patient's transition between and within health care settings, such as admitting, transferring, and discharging patients. </li><li>Participates in departmental educational conferences and clinical care meetings. </li><li>Accurately and appropriately complete documentation of patient care in the electronic medical record (EMR) and other records for compliance, billing, and other regulatory standards. </li><li>Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as requested/assigned. </li></ul> <p>Education Requirements</p> <ul> <li>A master's degree in nursing is required. </li></ul> <p>Experience Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Current certification as Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) and/or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). </li><li>Licensure as ARNP in State of Iowa. </li><li>Current license to practice nursing in the State of Iowa. </li><li>Demonstrated experience in the clinical care of pediatric patients. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to work independently with indirect supervision and critical thinking/problem solving skills. </li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. </li><li>Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification. </li><li>Federal DEA license. </li></ul> <p>Desired Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge and experience in gastroenterology. </li><li>Knowledge and experience in ambulatory care. </li></ul> <p>Position and Application details:</p> <p>In order to be considered for an interview, applicants must upload the following documents and mark them as a "Relevant File" to the submission:</p> <ul> <li>Resume </li><li>Cover Letter </li></ul> <p>Job openings are posted for a minimum of 7 calendar days and may be removed from posting and filled any time after the original posting period has ended.</p> <p>Successful candidates will be required to self-disclose any conviction history and will be subject to a criminal background check and credential/education verification.
