<p>Essential Duties</p> <ol> <li>Reviews and determines staffing needs, job posting requirements, salary guidelines, and labor agreement interpretations for exempt and non-exempt staff in one or more functional department of the University. 2. Manages the administrative support needs for exempt and nonexempt staff and provides recommendations, improvements, solutions and assistance as needed. 3. Manages and monitors technology needs, conducts inventory, and system requirements for the assigned departments. 4. Develops and prepares budgets, financial forecasts, and financial analyses and the actual vs. budgeted performance reports for the departments. 5. Manages the use of facilities in one or more departments including office space, work stations, equipment, and office supplies. 6. Manages administrative support for activities of one or more departments to ensure timely completion of projects. 7. Manages and coordinates training sessions for assigned departments when new policies or practices are adopted. 8. Ensures compliance with University and federal regulations as they apply to the assigned departments. 9. Identifies, plans, and develops administrative policies for the assigned departments. 10. Assists in reviewing and implements University and departmental policies as they pertain to the administrative functions of the assigned department. 11. Assesses and makes recommendations regarding staff development and staffing levels. 12. Monitors, develops, plans, and executes systematic research on user requirements through such mechanisms as surveys, interviews, focus groups and competitive analysis. 13. Manages a staff of exempt and non-exempt employees. 14. For additional information on the background check requirements and process visit "Learn about background checks" under the Applicant Support Resources section of Careers on the It's Your Yale website.</p> <p>Position Focus:</p> <p>The Regulatory Science team at Yale School of Medicine within the department of General Internal Medicine (GIM) and at the Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation (CORE) is seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Manager. The Senior Research Manager will manage a team in a multidisciplinary team environment, including the design, implementation and evaluation of public health outcomes research projects conducted by investigators in GIM and at CORE.</p> <p>Reporting to the Principal Investigator, the Senior Research Manager will oversee the daily operations and management of multiple regulatory science and data sharing research projects, including the Yale-Mayo Center of Excellence in Regulatory Science and Innovation (CERSI), the Yale Collaboration for Regulatory Rigor, Integrity, and Transparency (CRRIT), and the Yale Open Data Access (YODA) Project. Key responsibilities include leading project execution, and planning, organizing, coordinating, reporting, and managing all related activities. The Senior Research Manager will provide direct oversight of project deliverables and staff performance, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, manage IRB processes, formulate, design, and implement protocols to achieve the research aims, proactively resolve issues to achieve goals, and lead hiring efforts for the team. Additionally, they will oversee all aspects of budget management and financial reporting, including creation and execution of project budgets, monitoring project resources and optimizing utilization, meeting sponsor reporting requirements, and adhering to financial guidelines. The Senior Research Manager will effectively and efficiently liaise with the Yale Business, Subaward, and Sponsored Projects Offices to ensure accurate and timely effort allocation, subaward agreement development and execution, and award set up and reporting, as well as other ad hoc tasks.</p> <p>Effective communication skills are crucial, as the Senior Research Manager will serve as the liaison for communication between internal and external partners and funders, and organizing and leading regular meetings with leadership and multi-site study teams to foster collaboration with internal and external partners. The Senior Research Manager will onboard, train, and manage research staff and trainees, conduct data quality reviews, assist with manuscript development and dissemination, participate in strategic planning for the research team's long-term success, and contribute to the development of future research projects while improving dissemination efforts to stakeholders. They will also oversee all project management responsibilities, ensuring timelines and deliverables are met, while providing mentorship to staff to facilitate professional growth. Specific to the YODA Project, the Senior Research Manager will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely review of data requests, communications with the sponsor and external researchers, data use agreement execution, data access implementation, and contract management.</p> <p>The ideal candidate will have proven experience in managing large-scale, multi-site research projects, strong leadership and project management skills, excellent organizational and communication abilities, and experience with regulatory compliance, IRB processes, and budget management.</p> <p>The Regulatory Science team within GIM and CORE is a multidisciplinary group of faculty, staff, postdoctoral trainees, and graduate and undergraduate students across Yale.
