<p>Overview The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation's largest small business advocacy organization, looks to hire an Sr Manager, Travel & Events to join it's Travel team. Responsibilities The Sr Manager, Travel & Events provides strategic support to NFIB's Travel & Events Director and manages logistics, oversight, and communications for the organization's meetings and events as well as for the travel program. The Sr Manager is directly involved in various components of meeting and event planning: site research and selection, negotiating contracts, meeting management (offsite as well as onsite), managing budgets, and creating and managing communications related to the organization's meetings and events. The person in this role will be the liaison with the organization's travel management company and manage day-to-day operations of the organization's travel program, including oversight for the implementation of the policy and procedures related to NFIB travel. Must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; work outcomes must meet and / or exceed productivity and quality standards. Must be professional, detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills. Must also be able to work as part of a cooperative team environment, including regular and predictable attendance. Must adhere to Company and Department policies and procedures. Performs other projects as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree required; degree in hospitality or event management preferred. Eight (8) to ten (10) years of experience in meeting and/or event planning for complex association and/or government industry events. Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation preferred. Five (5) to eight (8) years of experience in a corporate travel environment. Knowledge of travel industry trends and issues is essential. Extensive experience with contract terms and negotiations and all aspects of meeting planning, from the contract stage to final billing and budget reconciliation. Must be able to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines with organization departments as well as with outside vendors. Five (5) to eight (8) years of experience with audio visual and production management for meetings and special events. Must demonstrate exceptional attention to details, organizational abilities, and planning skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience with writing articles, drafting website content, and other communications necessary to all levels of the organization and outside vendors. Must be able to work independently and proactively to collaborate with various departments of the organization as well as with outside vendors. Must maintain a high level of personal and professional ethics and demonstrate a strong commitment to working with other departments to achieve goals. Must be familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, Concur and/or other travel booking systems.
