If that sounds like an organization you want to be a part of, we would love to have you.</p> <p>Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm (1 hour lunch)</p> <p>ROLE OVERVIEW and PURPOSE</p> <p>The Medical Scribe will increase the electronic medical record (EMR) efficiency, productivity, and accuracy for providers. This role will annotate all dictated or written information for treatments of patients. In addition, this role will facilitate communication between limited English-speaking patients and their providers, nurses, lab technician, and other clinical staff.</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>Medical Scribe:</p> <ul> <li>Assists providers with documentation of each patient's medical chart during their visit </li><li>Transcribes a history and physical examination as given by the patient and provider </li><li>Documents all procedures performed by the provider or nurses in patient medical charts </li><li>Uses various EHR tools to congregate data collected for statistical reports for efficiency and accuracy </li><li>Transcribes consultations and discussions by family members and/or providers, including electronic signatures on changes made to patient progress notes </li><li>Orders labs, diagnostic imaging, and specialty referrals </li><li>Transcribes results for labs, x-rays, and other evaluations in patient medical charts </li><li>Follows-up on the progress of pending results to finalize the patient workups for the provider </li><li>Documents proper diagnoses, follow-up instructions, and prescriptions as dictated by the clinician </li><li>Trains new hires, including new hire shadowing after three months of employment assuming competency in work performance </li><li>Attends mandatory trainings with various departments within the organization </li></ul> <p>Healthcare Interpreter:</p> <ul> <li>Facilitates communication between patients and their providers, nurses, medical assistants, lab technicians and other clinical team members </li><li>Ensures patients comprehend treatment plans as described by the provider and clarifies any discrepancies </li><li>Adapts to provider workflow preferences and proactively reviews patient's chart in preparation of scheduled appointments </li><li>Conveys information to patients regarding treatment plans, lab results, referrals, and other information within electronic health records in accordance with HIPPA standards </li><li>Assists providers in navigating the electronic health record (EHR) </li><li>Locates information for review, including encounters, test results, outside records </li><li>Notifies provider of any pending items and system alerts </li><li>Assists with scheduling/rescheduling appointments </li><li>Recognizes any potential barriers to communication that may impact the success of the patient experience </li></ul> <p>EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma/GED required; bachelor's degree preferred </li><li>Healthcare Interpreter Certification preferred </li><li>One year medical scribe experience within outpatient clinics setting preferred </li><li>Experience using electronic medical records systems preferred </li><li>Bilingual (English/Spanish) speaking, reading, and writing required </li></ul> <p>ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)</p> <ul> <li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including superior composition and proofreading skills </li><li>Ability to type 55+ words per minute </li><li>Ability to carry out work in a distraction free environment </li><li>Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form </li><li>Knowledge about and experience with various templates and documentation techniques in EMR systems </li><li>Knowledge about and experience with medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology </li><li>Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously </li><li>Excellent planning and organizational ability </li><li>Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently </li><li>Ability to work with highly confidential information in a professional and ethical manner </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Ability to lift/carry 5 lbs/weight </li><li>Ability to stand for long periods of time </li></ul> <p>COMPLIANCE (Safety & HIPPA)</p> <ul> <li>Follow all safety procedures as outlined in Neighborhood Healthcare's Illness and Injury Prevention Plan (IIPP) and report any injuries and/or unsafe conditions immediately </li><li>Maintain current knowledge of policies and procedures as they relate to safe work practices </li><li>Follow all safety procedures and report unsafe conditions </li><li>Use appropriate body mechanics to ensure an injury free environment </li><li>Be familiar with location of nearest fire extinguisher and emergency exits </li><li>Follow all infection control procedures including blood-borne pathogen protocols </li><li>Maintain privacy of all patient, employee and volunteer information and access such information only on a need-to-know basis for business purposes </li><li>Comply with all regulations regarding corporate integrity and security obligations </li><li>Report all behavior and/or activity that are unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful </li></ul> <p>Neighborhood Healthcare offers a generous benefit plan that includes: Partially company paid Medical, Dental, and Vision Plans. While this range represents the broader classification of the role, actual compensation will be based on several factors, including but not limited to: the candidate's overall knowledge, skills, and experience, market data and industry benchmarks, internal equity within the organization, Budgetary considerations and organizational needs.</p>
