Join GHD.</p> <p>Who are we looking for?</p> <p>The US West Region is looking for a motivated Sr. Project Engineer - Highways & Roads to support GHD's established Highways and Roads practice throughout the California and the US West. We are seeking a Project Engineer with the skills to help take our practice to the next level in the delivery of highways, interchanges, local roads, roundabouts, trails / active transportation, bridges, and other enriching and vital improvements. This position will be based out of any of our California or Arizona offices, but will be networked through our offices across the West Region with a focus on our offices in California.</p> <p>Perform engineering duties in planning, designing, and overseeing construction and maintenance of building structures, and facilities, such as roads, railroads, airports, bridges, harbors, channels, dams, irrigation projects, pipelines, power plants, and water and sewage systems.</p> <p>Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:</p> <ul> <li>Contract Management: Deliver required outcomes by coordinating activities of subcontractors and suppliers and acting as a primary point of contact for them while working within an established contract management plan. </li><li>Improvement/Innovation: Identify shortcomings in existing processes, systems, and procedures, and use established change management programs to address them. </li><li>Engineering Standards Specification: Carry out a range of activities under the guidance of more senior colleagues to support the drafting of engineering standards and specifications and the evaluation of the effectiveness of those standards. </li><li>Knowledge Management System: Help others get the most out of knowledge management systems by offering support and advice. </li><li>Engineering Inspections: Carry out inspections under the supervision of senior colleagues to evaluate the quality of engineering works and/or the integrity of existing installations or structures, and make recommendations to senior colleagues on the remedial works needed to ensure conformance with specifications and regulatory requirements. </li><li>Process Design Engineering: Contribute to the analysis of information and the specification of the methods and process steps, as well as the plant, machinery, and equipment, required to design and continuously improve manufacturing or materials processes and process systems to deliver the end product within specified cost and quality parameters. </li><li>Client & Customer Management (External): Help senior colleagues manage client and customer relationships by using relevant sales or client systems. </li><li>Data Collection and Analysis: Collate and analyze data using preset tools, methods, and formats. Involves working independently. </li><li>Monitor Construction Works: Monitor and oversee the delivery of works to ensure that construction, maintenance, or improvement works are delivered in accordance with quality, cost, and time requirements. </li><li>Engineering Drawings: Create engineering drawings to support the communication, evaluation, and implementation of engineering solutions. </li><li>Engineering Solutions Design: Contribute to the design of engineering solutions; design the feasibility testing approach and supervise its implementation to support the development and validation of engineering solutions. </li><li>Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media. </li><li>Technical Developments Recommendation: Research and suggest technical developments to improve the quality of the website/portal/software and supporting infrastructure to better meet users' needs. </li><li>Product and Solution Development: Define and deliver products and services that meet customer needs by selecting the best possible approaches available within established systems. </li><li>Project Management: Work within an established project management plan to achieve specific goals. </li><li>Research: Carry out a range of research activities either to support others or to fulfill the requirements of the role. </li><li>Testing: Use product specifications to design test procedures and standards. </li><li>Technical Troubleshooting: Support technical troubleshooting efforts, aiding in the quick and accurate identification, analysis, and resolution of technical issues with equipment and experiments. </li></ul> <p>Education</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field. </li></ul> <p>Experience</p> <ul> <li>7+ years of experience with solid technical knowledge and skills across the transportation & municipal engineering, including a strong background in planning & design; construction experience a plus. </li><li>Registered Civil Engineer in the State of California or Arizona desired, or ability to obtain within 12 months.10+ years of experience with solid technical knowledge and skills across the transportation & municipal engineering, including a strong background in planning & design; construction experience a plus. </li><li>Strong understanding of PS&E package development across multiple software design platforms - strong prior experience with both AutoCAD Civil 3D, and Microstation desired. </li><li>Knowledge of Caltrans and AASHTO guidelines and standards. </li><li>Experience with local agency, state and federally funded transportation projects including projects delivered in partnership with Caltrans through their oversight process. </li></ul> <p>#LI-KM1</p> <p>Salary Range: $99.000-$150,0000 based on experience and location</p> <p>As a multicultural organization, we encourage individual achievement and recognize the strength of a diverse workforce.
