<p>Description</p> <p>POSITION TITLE: Medical Assistant</p> <p>RESPONSIBLE TO: Practice Manager/Director of Nursing</p> <p>FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt</p> <p>Purpose of this Position: The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a nurse, mid-level provider, and/or physician. The Medical Assistants prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients including sterilization, cleaning, and checks on medical equipment. A Medical Assistant prepares basic laboratory tests on premises and prepares laboratory specimens, as well as entering diagnostic or medication orders under the direction of a Licensed Independent Provider (LIP).</p> <p>Requirements</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Education: Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting school or possess a current Medical Assisting Certification: (CMA, CCMA, RMA, NCMA). </li><li>Experience: Prefer previous experience in a medical office (e.g., front office, lab experience, procedure set up, etc.) </li><li>Licenses/Certifications: Current BLS-CPR Certification (AHA Provider) </li></ul> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Performs various patient care activities and related nonprofessional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients. </li><li>Documents information in patient record. </li><li>Performs various direct patient care activities under direction of licensed patient care provider. </li><li>Communicates information with patient care providers and other nursing staff members to facilitate patient care. </li><li>Assists physicians and other nursing staff members with procedures as appropriate. </li><li>Performs tasks and procedures as ordered by the physician or licensed provider consistent with approved protocols, policies, and procedures. </li><li>Performs tasks that require a unique body of knowledge and skills for that area of service. </li><li>Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Must be able to lift 25 lbs. </li><li>Continuous sitting, standing, walking. </li><li>Correctable vision and hearing. </li><li>The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. </li><li>The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation. </li></ul>
