<p>The Water & Wastewater Operator in Training will take part in the operations of drinking and wastewater treatment facilities and components including routine water and wastewater tests, data entry, regulatory sample collection, and basic maintenance and repairs. The role requires adherence to safety guidelines, maintaining facility cleanliness, and being available for on-call emergencies. This position offers opportunities for career growth and requires a commitment to integrity and promoting a positive company outlook.</p> <p>Work Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week with weekend shifts, and a rotating on-call schedule.</p> <p>Work Location: This position will cover the northern Westchester County area.</p> <p>Benefits and Compensation:</p> <ul> <li>$25.00 per hour. </li><li>Health Insurance, Dental, Vision & Telemedicine. </li><li>Health Savings Account. </li><li>Life Insurance. </li><li>401K Retirement Plan with Employer Contributions. </li><li>Paid Vacation & Sick Days. </li><li>Annual Bonus Program. </li></ul> <p>Job Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Conduct routine water and wastewater tests, perform daily lab tests, and collect regulatory samples and meter readings. </li><li>Enter test results and readings into the logbook and data systems, ensuring data integrity and timeliness; report abnormalities to manager. </li><li>Troubleshoot equipment issues as instructed and report needed repairs (e.g., pumps, valves, motors, blowers). </li><li>Perform maintenance and repairs on equipment under the manager's direction. </li><li>Track lab supplies, chemicals and other consumables; inform the manager when supplies need replenishing for uninterrupted operations. </li><li>Assist teammates and train staff as needed to ensure efficient and effective operations. </li><li>Maintain cleanliness and organization at the facility, including waste removal, sweeping, mopping, and groundskeeping. </li><li>Follow all safety guidelines and procedures, and report safety concerns. </li><li>Respond to on-call emergencies within a 30-minute timeframe when scheduled. </li><li>Report issues, concerns, or operational changes to the assigned manager promptly. </li><li>Perform additional duties as required to support the overall operations and objectives of the assigned facilities. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications and Certifications:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent. </li><li>Must be 18 years or older. </li><li>The Operator in Training is expected to obtain water/wastewater certifications as part of their development, with the goal of becoming an Operator. </li><li>Possession of a valid state driver's license and a history of responsible driving (drivers with multiple moving violations or a D.U.I. within the past 5 years are ineligible to drive for the company). </li><li>Candidates will undergo background screening and motor vehicle record checks as part of the hiring process. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Technical or mechanical experience. </li><li>Computer skills are a plus. Training will be provided. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to speak and hear: 4-8 hours/day; </li><li>Walking & standing: 4-8 hours/day; </li><li>Bending, reaching, pushing, pulling: 4-8 hours/day; </li><li>Use hands & fingers to handle, touch, and reach: 4-8 hours/day; </li><li>Climb stairs and/or ladders, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and sit; </li><li>Lift 10-25 lbs regularly; up to 50 lbs occasionally; </li><li>Ability to operate gasoline, diesel, or gas-powered motors and use hand tools. </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions:</p> <ul> <li>Environment: Work is performed both inside and outside with exposure to sun, heat, cold temperatures, snow, and ice. </li><li>Noise level: Moderate. </li></ul> <p>#O&MNY</p>
