<p>GENERAL SUMMARY:</p> <p>Under supervision from laboratory leadership, may lead the preparation and delivery of training efforts to</p> <p>improve quality for Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (PALM) and the activities related to point-of-care</p> <p>(POC) activities outside of the usual laboratory. Prepares and maintains POC operating procedures to meet</p> <p>accrediting and regulatory requirements and in PALM-approved standardized format. Collects quality data</p> <p>to plan and lead educational efforts to facilitate awareness and to implement improvements. May assist</p> <p>caregivers and other healthcare workers in the development of staff training and ensure accrediting and</p> <p>regulatory compliance for (POC) laboratories.</p> <p>PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ol> <li>Responsible for the training, competency testing and needed follow-up of all point-of-care </li></ol> <p>(POC) testing personnel. Assesses the need for staff training. Develops and conducts</p> <p>training programs and competency testing as required.</p> <ol start="2"> <li>Routinely reviews quality control data and point-of-care test results performed by caregivers </li></ol> <p>and all other POC testers. Identifies and resolves defects. Reports findings to all</p> <p>appropriate leadership staff.</p> <ol start="3"> <li>Recommends, implements, and monitors quality control and proficiency testing programs at </li></ol> <p>(POC) testing sites and coordinates such activities with similar programs in the central</p> <p>pathology laboratory.</p> <ol start="4"> <li>Assists nursing educators and physicians with the development of training programs for all </li></ol> <p>caregivers performing POC testing. May assist in leading quality improvement training and</p> <p>education for Pathology and Laboratory Medicine staff.</p> <ol start="5"> <li>Prepares periodic reports to laboratory leadership on performance, volume, accreditation </li></ol> <p>readiness and other performance metrics.</p> <p>EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:</p> <ol> <li>Completion of a Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory </li></ol> <p>science, medical technology, or Allied Health Administration from an accredited institution.</p> <ol start="2"> <li>Requires a minimum of three (3) years of progressive responsibility including demonstrated </li></ol> <p>leadership qualities in an accredited laboratory.</p> <ol start="3"> <li>Certification as a MT (ASCP), MLS (ASCP), CLS (NCA), MLT (ASCP), or CLT/NCA is </li></ol> <p>required.</p> <p>Additional Information</p> <ul> <li>Organization: Henry Ford Hospital - Detroit Main Campus </li><li>Department: Pathology Blood Bank </li><li>Shift: Day Job </li><li>Union Code: Not Applicable </li></ul>
