<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Onondaga Community College in Syracuse, NY, is accepting applications for an adjunct chef instructor in our Culinary Management program to teach classes in Bakery Principles. This course gives students a working knowledge of the fundamentals of baking techniques and the scientific principles behind baking in a commercial bakery. Students will learn the appropriate bakery methods that may be applied to yeast raised doughs, quick breads, pies, cakes, cookies, and basic items made in a bakery. Topics include baking terminology, tool and equipment use, formula conversions, functions of ingredients, and the use of proper flours.</p> <p>The adjunct instructor is responsible for demonstrations, lecturing, compiling tests, assessing student performance relative to standardized learning objectives. This course includes a lab component. This course is hybrid which means lecture material is on-line and lab component is face-to-face.</p> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Associate's degree in Culinary Arts with extensive bakery experience or Associate's degree on Pastry Arts from an accredited college or university or foreign equivalency. </li><li>5 years professional bakery experience. </li><li>5 years prior teaching or training experience. </li><li>Candidate must be certified to teach on-line through OCC Quality Matters before being assigned to this course. </li><li>Certified ServSafe Food Protection Manager. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>B.S. in Pastry Arts from an accredited academic institution or foreign equivalency. </li><li>Bilingual in English and Spanish. English and another language will be considered. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>Adjunct rate of pay is $1,371/credit hour (23/24 rate)</p> <p>Anticipated Hours: This course runs 1st 1/2 semester 1/27/25 - 3/19/25. Prior to teaching, the successful applicant must provide an official transcript from highest degree received and must become certified to teach on-line through OCC's Quality Matters. Candidate will be required to provide proof of ServSafe Food Protection Manager credential.</p> <p>This position is eligible to participate in the NYS Retirement System. A post offer background screening will be conducted.</p>
