<p>Posted May 6, 2025</p> <p>Part-Time Assistant Professor and Clinical Coordinator</p> <p>Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling Program, School of Arts & Science, University of Charleston</p> <p>Position Summary:</p> <p>Counseling faculty members teach semester-long counseling courses remotely for the university. This remote position will serve as the clinical coordinator with primary responsibility for the practicum and internship courses (9 credit hours maximum) and assist in the preparation of students for a life of productive work, enlightened living, and community involvement. The 12-month Faculty position starts on August 1, 2025.</p> <p>Essential Responsibilities:</p> <p>All counseling program faculty members must be able to perform the following general duties and job responsibilities. Please note that this is not an exhaustive list of job responsibilities that may be inherent to the job.</p> <ul> <li>Develop, design, and deliver course materials including course syllabi, course schedules, assignments, and assessments that are innovative and adequately challenging </li><li>Participate in student advising formally each semester for semester check-ins and informally as students' needs arise </li><li>Participate in student mentorship and be a positive role model for scholarship, leadership, and professional and community engagement </li><li>Provide timely, constructive feedback on student, and peer performance </li><li>Be active in individual and departmental evaluation and revision of policies, procedures, and curriculum </li><li>Regularly evaluate learning resources (reference materials, audio/visual aids, computer assisted learning programs, and library acquisitions) for students and faculty to ensure that needs are adequately being met </li><li>Create relevant partnerships for service and meaningful student learning experiences </li><li>Engage in professional development and lifelong learning through continuing education and training in areas specifically related to teaching, scholarship, and/or service </li><li>Recognize and respect the individual needs and potential of each student </li><li>Maintain adequate records for student advising, student and personal research, and committees chaired </li><li>Assist in the development and analysis of student, program, fieldwork, and graduate evaluations and make changes to processes as necessary and assigned. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Licensure & Certification Requirements:</p> </li><li> <p>Must have (or be eligible for) a valid license to practice as a Professional Counselor (or equivalent) in their state of residence with no history of past or current disciplinary actions from their state of residence.</p> </li><li> <p>Educational Requirements:</p> </li><li> <p>Must have a doctoral degree in Counselor Education or Counseling that has been awarded by an institution that is accredited by a USDE-recognized institutional accrediting agency. Doctoral degree in Counselor Education from a program accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Program (CACREP).</p> </li><li> <p>Experience Requirements:</p> </li><li> <p>Minimum of 1 year of experience in counseling higher education (adjunct or full-time faculty) required with 2 or more preferred.
