The national honor recognizes the top diverse healthcare executives and organizations influencing public policy, care delivery, and promoting diversity, equity and inclusion in their organizations and the industry.</p> <p>Department Overview</p> <p>The Pathology department provides clinical and anatomical pathology services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Serves as a reference laboratory for routine and complex tests. Staff are specially trained in pediatric blood collection, age-specific techniques, and coping strategies to improve the patient and family experience.</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>Performs professional duties associated with the examination and/or preparation of surgical pathology specimens and the preparation, performance, and completion of autopsies, with general supervision of pathologists. Supports the Histology Supervisor and testing/staffing activities, as needed, to ensure section testing meets quality and service expectations as it pertains to grossing and autopsy services. The pathology assistant plans, coordinates and directs testing and staffing activities to ensure the laboratory meets quality and service expectations. Acts as a liaison among all areas of the hospital. Provides leadership in quality, safety and regulatory activities. Promotes the development of the team.</p> <p>A minimum of a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college/university, AND successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Pathologists' Assistants program. ASCP certification (PA) or eligible -required to obtain within first twelve months of employment. Must meet continuing education requirements to maintain certification if applicable.</p> <p>Education:</p> <ul> <li>Baccalaureate degree or equivalent (CLIA '88 regulations). </li></ul> <p>Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Previous experience in a health care setting. </li><li>Previous experience in pathology laboratory. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Requires a baccalaureate or equivalent. </li><li>Basic knowledge of human anatomy, grossing and autopsy techniques, general laboratory skills. </li><li>Understanding of safety and infection control requirements of position. </li><li>Competent in laboratory and hospital information systems associate with anatomic pathology. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to obtain and prepare tissue for evaluation, provide assistance to pathologists, in a timely and quality manner. </li><li>Must be highly organized, efficient, and multifunctional. </li><li>Must have good communications skills. </li><li>Ability to work independently as well as in a team. </li><li>Digital photography competence. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands</p> <p>Please click here to view the Physical Demands</p> <p>The posted salary represents a market competitive range based on salary survey benchmark data for similar roles in the local or national market. When determining individual pay rates, we carefully consider a wide range of factors including but not limited to market indicators for the specific role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate, internal equity and organizational needs.</p> <p>In addition to your salary, this position may be eligible for medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other fringe benefits.
